At approximately the 400m, MAIN DEFENDER (G Lerena) and JOKER MAN (C Habib) came together and bumped on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed between BARBARESCO (R Danielson), which was directed outwards away from the heels of GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE (C Zackey) and GRAND CRESCENDO (K A Brewer), which hung in badly from the 500m. This incident led to JOKER MAN (C Habib) being squeezed out and GRAND CRESCENDO (K A Brewer) being unbalanced and having its hindquarters turned outwards. When tacking into account GRAND CRESCENDO’S (K A Brewer) recent history of hanging in races, Trainer C Dawson was advised to take the necessary corrective measures to improve this gelding’s racing manners.


THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) MAIN DEFENDER examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
