Teal, “the little pony” mostly ran second to National Emblem if memory serves. Won the Rothmans in 1995 with J GEROUDIS on board.

.....Teal's dam was a very well bred import but a total squib as she was a twin....our top breeders back then must have been duped as breeding with diluted genetics and squibish sorts was considered to be foolish ....Teal had a handful of local siblings that never saw a race course

....thought so too as I remember a certain commentator labeling him as such.....however this horse only ran a total of six  2nd finishes and only one consecutively ...was trained by Grant Maroun ....landed up winning 6 races..... so that 2nds tag is not really applicable and was more likely pocket talk.....as for Teal's dam....she as indeed  a Northern Dancer sired mare named Northern Banner and her twin brother Bandsman also never raced but was sent to Trinidad as a sire where he reportedly sired 5 derby winners and was their top sire for 7 consecutive years....it was the  Scott brothers that imported Northern Banner that locally foaled for them a handful of squibbish offspring.... they put her on a dispersal sale and was then bought by Alan Sutherland.....

the name   AFTER  HOURS........  or   AFTER EIGHT    rings a bell in my head......   hope this helps.

not sure if trained  by St. John  or  maybe  one of the MAROUN'S.  ???
