There is some form of trainer's association in Natal I think. I know Tony Rivalland is the trainer's representative

Dave,
On the day referred to in your photo, more good horses broke down than perhaps any other in the history of North American racing.

Well done Barry, at least someone is thinking more about the horse rather than their pockets...

It is not the amount of moisture on a racing surface, but the condition of the surface and how the trackman maintains it that causes problems with horses.

Pirates, of course I am unhappy with the meeting being abandoned, but alas I'm not the course manager.
Oscar...Mr Woodruff was part of the panel that inspected the track at the 1300m mark, which led to the meeting being abandoned.
I did this morning take a misty drive to the vaal and actually made a point of going to the 1300m mark myself...and guess what, it is still wet and considerably softer in the middle of the track and taking into consideration that the track has subsequently been rolled and had no rain since thursday, not withstanding that you can still see where the horses hooves had hit the surface and slipped forward...in some places as much as 6 inches...and that was at a trot to the start of the 3rd race, I would hate to see what would happen at a full gallop!
Time for urgent work on the sand surface????????

TF please note I said that I agreed with Louis Goosen and P Strydom that they on the TV show clearly said that the sand at the Vaal needs to be fixed and that Woodruff clearly stated together with St J Grey that the quality of the sand was great.
Has Woodruff now changed his mind?????
