thats why so many have already commented on this article both in defense and agaist. This is a forum, if ABC also want to ban me then so be it. If you dont like what i write dont read it.

I didn't know about it.

I think it's called Freedom of Expression, Charl has the right to publish anything he wants in his newsletter; then we also have Freedom of Choice, those of us that think / believe differently have the choice to ignore it.

Horse racing without abc or racingweb will be a dull day..I wonder if tellytrack will start their own forum?

Whether I agree or disagree with Charl, I don't believe thats the point. Since when has this become a religious forum?

We should all allow everybody else their freedom of speech, religion, faith and devotion (mmmnnnn that sounds like the title to a Depeche Mode album?)

I love my God and I'm sure each of you love whatever it is you want every day. Should this even make any difference?

Lets get back to horse racing!!!

Thats why we are all here right?

A couple of observations:

1. The defence of freedom of speech cannot only be used in ones own defence. Everyone is entitled to this. Some of the posts suggest otherwise and perhaps lend themselves to the title of this post.

2. Charl is obviously a top journalist as he seems to be able to push buttons and get people talking on issues.

3. I disagree with his views though. If we ban t-shirts and signs of or devout christians, then we would also need to ban Sheik Mo from Meydan in Dubai. His attire is a symbol of his devotion to his religion. We need to ban Jewish head dress, hindu kalava (red string) etc. etc. Christians have as much of a right to show their devotion in a way they see fit. Equally, Charl has his right to preach his agnostic views. We can choose to take in or ignore what we choose to.

4. Loyalty is nil in racing - I was able to sum up the dark side of the spoon very quickly and stuck to what I believe is a superior forum. No outbursts every five minutes and Scotia not drawn into mud slinging matches. If you love it support and dont bring it down to stroke your own ego.

5. The success or failure of your chosen forum is the sum of all thoughts of its contributors. Believe it or not the earth does not revolve around anyone one person on it.

6. Please dont make this forum the banned racingweb lonely hearts club. If you have an issue with him I am sure you can find a way to have a go outside of this forum.

Al Charl is a very good guy..Ive known him for 12 years..he is also a clever guy..racing is a game of emotions and sometimes they hard to manage

Abc Im sure has its own identity established in the market and is really only as onteresting as its posters.
