Just watched and a great show, but missed Jessica.
As normal content well researched and if not mistaken ABC got a mention re:Rachel Alexandra. but general content was well worth while watching.
Keep it up!

Much of the show was given to the Emerald Cup day next Sat, with local band Watershed being interviewed, what are your thoughts on bringing music to the racing.
here is a view from Newmarket.
NEWMARKET managing director Stephen Wallis says the course is tailoring its popular series of post-racing summer concerts to attract an older audience more likely to return to racing.
The course's 'Newmarket Nights' this year have featured groups such as the Pussycat Dolls as well as Simply Red, and a move towards more established artists like the last-namedcould be copied elsewhere as it is believed that they attract an audience with more potential future racegoers who bet and spend more.
However it is not a view held elsewhere as courses seek to attract all ages to go racing.
Wallis said: "When you have seven nights like Newmarket you have to go for a cross section of music followers as you won't get the same audience every week, but it's absolutely true to say that certain type of bands like Simply Red and Madness would generate higher Tote turnover than such bands as Pussycat Dolls or Scouting For Girls."
Well scotia thinks if the Pussy Cat Dolls could sing like Simply Red, we would have a group for all tastes.

My feeling is that it's a great idea but only AFTER the races - I'd charge an absolute fortune for tickets for the concert (eg R200 per person) BUT if you arrived on course before 2pm tickets R50

R200 for Simply Red and Pussy Cats what a pleasure, you will be lucky to get Watershed for that money.

Few observations on the Watershed interview.
1. Cant believe that neither Clyde nor Robin have ever heared the band or their music. Its on the radio everyday down here. you 94.7 guys would probably have heard them on Darren Scotts show often.
2. Craig has links to the South coast and some of his family is still here. From JHB?
3. Classification of music - you can call it piano rock or accoustic rock - its not its adult contempary at best and would be the SA equivelant of Simply Red - Clydes target range of 18 -35 for this band is off the mark and I would lean towards 30's plus
4. I can speak with authority on this as I was involoved with hosting them on numerous occassions at the club I managed right from the early days when they played at the local folk club evenings.
They have had many hits and are entertaining and do rate up there with the best of them. Not sure that they have the pulling power of Prime Circle or the Parlatones amoungst the younger group (18 - 35) but are probably the right band for the event as both the younger set and their parents will enjoy the show.
Well done to all involved I think that it is great for racing and good to see that the authorities are not scared to adopt overseas concepts.
Now could someone please explain the rave jingle in the Emerald cup add? Surely Watershed would allow their own music to be played or even create a jingle for the add?
Well done to the sponsors for keeping an interest in tough times

Newmarket charged, between R250(cheap seats) - R650 for premier seats and the majority of the seats were priced at £30/R420 for the top bands,Boyzone, pussycats,Simply Red,Status QUO..

Thats why we only attract the has been bands to SA. R150 is probably the max most will pay for a top band, Very few will pay R100 for an SA Band

So we could say
"Monies too tight to mention"
well at least "Something got you started"
