I presume that you did not back it as 13/8 would be a bit long for you.

What a super impressive win. If the hype is anything to go by then this was a strong renewal of the Racing Post trophy.

Have we seen next years Derby winner today??

The English flat racing season has really caught my attention this year. (Mainly thanks to Sea the Stars and the Godolphin as well as Sheik Hamdan horses)

I can't wait for next year to start!!!

O'Brien said: "That was very special, he's just an unbelievably special horse.

"He's just one of those unique horses with loads of speed and class. Trip doesn't bother him and Johnny was super-cool on him, he was very confident.

"The lad who rides him at home said to Johnny you just move once on him and he takes off."

Murtagh added: "He's a pretty exciting horse. He's got a great cruising speed and a good turn of foot.

"They didn't go a strong gallop. I got to the three marker, I was following Eddie (Ahern on Elusive Pimpernel). When I got to the furlong pole I asked him to quicken and it was incredible.

"He's got a great turn of foot and all the good ones have that. He's very exciting.

"He quickened well at the Curragh (in the Beresford) but he was even more impressive today.

"I think he's a good horse. Sam who rides him every day said to me he's really, really bubbling.

"It's a big step up to Group company, but this lad has taken it in his stride.

"He's a nice horse with great speed. Everything is open for him with the speed he showed today."

John Dunlop said: "He has run a cracking race and I think it will prove no disgrace to have been beaten by that winner.

"You have to be very pleased with that, although I suppose I could be more pleased, but there you go."

Godolphin's Simon Crisford said
: "He has run very well and there are no excuses.

"The winner looked very special and we are going to look forward to next year now.

"He will be a mile-and-a-quarter horse next season, although he may stay a bit further.

"I think he is a horse who needs a winter on his back."

St Nicholas Abbey was cut to 5-2
favourite from 8-1 for the Derby with Paddy Power while Sky Bet are 3-1
for both the 2000 Guineas and Derby.

Will be a long winter now!!!!

Yes, a bit early to say, but do we have another star on our hands?
3/1 for 2000 gns and Derby, 15/1 the double.
What time do the bookies open?

AMID all the superlatives being heaped on Flat racing's new superstar St Nicholas Abbey, 2,000 Guineas sponsors Stan James have questioned whether the outstanding Racing Post Trophy winner will even tackle the Newmarket Classic as Aidan O'Brien's number one contender.

After a day when many layers continued to shorten St Nicholas Abbey for both the Guineas and Investec Derby, the Ballydoyle juvenile is a general 3-1 favourite for Newmarket and 5-2 for the Epsom showpiece, for which all other entries are available to back at 20-1 or bigger.

However, Stan James have stood out from the crowd by arguing that the O'Brien-trained Jumeirah Dewhurst Stakes fourth Steinbeck could emerge as his stable's leading Guineas hope and quoting him at 10-1 for the Guineas with St Nicholas Abbey - their 2-1 Derby market leader - a best-priced 7-2.

Stan James spokesman Charlie McCann said: "We still aren't convinced St Nicholas Abbey will go to post the Ballydoyle number one for the Guineas, given we remain convincedSteinbeck is also a colt of considerable potential and that he'll leave his Dewhurst form well behind in his Classic season."

McCann added: "Had St Nicholas Abbey been considered a Guineas winner by Ballydoyle before Saturday, why was he 20-1 before the Doncaster stalls opened?"

Who in their right mind would back a 2 year old at skinny odds 6 months before the most competitive mile of the 3 year old season, I mean who are these idiotic betting firms trying to fool?!

Thanks for update guys and you are right Sasky a bit early to play, however I did like the early quotes:

O'Brien said: "That was very special, he's just an unbelievably special horse.
