Tommy,if those punters are as smart as their punting might suggest,it surprises me that they would back a De Kock drifter,in the maidens....with respect I think it is an example that speaks volumes!

Ok so In the Mist did start favourite but not quite as short as I had initially thought she might.
What I did notice was that the pools are comingled a lot more gradually. What I mean by that is that there is not a HUGE jump at the off or right after the horses have travelled 300m. Maybe the pools are being comingled in "real time" now?
Still, Bet on Blue was bookmakers favourite here but on the tote it was In the Mist.
I'm willing to give my theory the thumbs up.
If I was wrong and the conspiracy theorists on here were right then In the mist would have started at about R2-10 a win after all the cancelled tickets/late bets ect!!!!
(The views expressed above are an opinion only.)

Tommy the result supports my theory too.....they backed the WINNER which was 75/10 as SP and paid only R3.10 on the tote.
My theory holds until they absolutely lump on a loser.
Another point is,if they are backing stables, how well do you think Clinton Binda is known in Auss.(as nice guy as he is)

Rob the horse did not pay R3-10, it paid R4-10. Seeing that it started 7/2 and paid 3/1 on the tote I believ that is an acceptable difference.
How they came to punt El Kapitane to such an extent I would not know, but I remain firm that I don't think there is any "deliberate" manipulation of the tote.
This is the last word I'm going to have on this matter.
Phumelela needs to address the comingling issue in the press as soon as they can as they are GOING to lose customers. It doesn't matter how the comingling affects us, the bottom line is that it DOES affect us.
All they need to do is explain to us whats happening and then also tell us indeed when/who will be comingling into our pools. THat would at least give us an idea of whats happening. Now we are all speculating and we could all be right/wrong/up down all around.
Come on P!!!!!!! Play the game boys, don't hide away. Give the punters what they want. INFORMATION!!!

Chill Tommy, the speculation(which it is)will do it's work if it gets us proper answers. The truth is that only then will anyone of us know what is causing these patterns.
The one thing is for sure...(I have been racing for over 40 years, including a couple of years operating with a bookmakers licence)....is that for so many winners to be that much shorter on the tote than the official SP is definitely a recent development so P are going to have to explain in order to maintain any sort of turnover on each way type bets.

Rob I watched that 2nd race tote closely...it dropped from R3.40 to R2.40 exactly 1 sec before the gates opened..that in itself amazes me.

Oscar, thats the part thats got me completely cos why would anybody back a horse on the tote and reduce it to 15/10(2.50) when they could secure 3/1 on the books?
I can't work it out at all.

Rob Oscar - If I wanted to move money out of SA legally I would have someone back a horse in Aus and take it out legally. refer to my earlier posts - Could this be a possibility?

Where is AW. He woul do a quick calc to show the type of money that can be moved 2 or 3 times a day. Lets say 30k per day minimum x 30 days - 900k or almost 1 mil per month. Way more than legally allowed per annum

Just had supper with some bookmakers,2 of which have tote terminals and this tote dividend issue is the talk of the town. There were as many theories as there were persons, but the consensous was that wherever these bets are coming from, they seem to defy chance. One of the fellows had a list of these races with strangly low tote dividends and the only common denominator was they were winners....diff prices, diff stables...no other pattern anyone could pick up.
