Ya I just gotta work out the best way out..a good mate of mine earlier this yr put the lot on a sale and that was it..maybe thats the best way I think he was a very happy man once that rock on his shoulder was cut loose.
I know exactly how you feel my good mates Gaj and pirates and I listen to guys like you closely..my mind was made up anyway though..its just not a game that exites anymore
Its a shame though as I know of at least 10 guys planning the out.

These last few posts are very concerning.....
This is why SA racing is in trouble. Good people who love the sport are being driven away due to incompetence and lies.......
I'm sorry to hear that you guys have had enough. Without commited owners such as yourselves this industry cannot survive.
I just hope the powers that be can do something about the situation before it is too late.
(It may already be too late????)

I am tired and bored with racing and will scale down big time. Social aspect and buzz of course and rooms long gone. a waste of money

And I thought I was the only one who felt this way!
Have managed to offload Parade Prince, Bluemambo and an, as yet, unraced two year old. Two half shares left in another two unraced two-year-olds after which: NO MAS! as Hands-Of-Steel once said.
Since I bought my first horse in 1978 I have watched the gap between cost-of-keep and earning potential widen every single year. I don't believe I am exaggerating (or being negative ) when I state that it will shortly need a horse of Graded ability to just break even. Eventually one asks the following question ;
How much 'fun' did I have for the R10,000 ( or whatever ) per month I spent in the last 30 days? The answer quickly becomes - Not a lot. That's usually the beginning of the end.
Ironically I can trace my disillusionment back to the day when Tellytrack first started flighting UK racing. To me their racing still has that 'spark' which highlighted just how unutterably bored I was with the local fare. Throw in the local racing politics and I must confess that you are better off amusing yourself with something else.
Last but not least I am now a lot more sensitive to the welfare of my horses than I ever was before. And that leaves a lot to be desired. Enough said.

Like I said before......WOW.
I have been giving serious thought to investing in SAf racing as I love nothing in the world more, but I must confess I'm not sure I can do that anymore.
I will probably still consider investing but things need to change a little.....or A LOT!!!
Somebody give me at least one reason why I should invest my hard earned cash into the racing scene I love?!?!?!?!

You get good days (a few) and bad days (a lot); and when one decides that the bad outstrips the good, then it is time to pack it in, and I respect the decisions by Clan members who has had enough.
However, I myself will soldier on - still looking forward with anticipppppppation to the day the 2 yr olds I have interest in make their debuts.

I got lots and lots of well bred unraced and I just need to work out how to try get the money spent on those..
My advise to you guys coming back fm overseas take a good hard look before you even think bout buying horses ..SA has changed much over last 6 months..horses are a total waste of money and remember its not the purchase price that is the problem..its the fact that you pay pay pay many people's salaries month after month with no reward at all..be careful.

There is only one awnser.
Remeber that although most of you race for fun, racing in South Africa has changed a lot although you cant see it.
The change is that it has become so much more competitive. Yes for most part you are taking on better bred horses (including imports) and bigger owners who have organised themselves and upped their game. So if you want to enjoy the game get better horses, better advice and the best trainers etc. This has become like a business and not a hobby so up your ganme and get competitive if you want to continue in this game.
Then when you win the Group 1 you can enjoy it to the full because you didn't give up. We all big boys and racing does not woe anyone anything. We must make the best of it. Sure there are a lot of shortcomings and some bad guys but racing was never perfect and if we get taken by the bad guys we only can blame ourselves for not doing it right in the first place.
Like anything that has gone wrong, the first question we must ask is. What am I doing to correct the situation? Like I said get involve with the right horses and the right people!
Address your concerns and see if you yourself are not partly to blame for your disapointments in any way and then you going to start to love the game like you used to.
I know this because it happens to me every so often!
Best of Luck Guys and I'll congratulate you when you cleebrating your next winner or buying your next horse at the sales.
When this bug bites it never lets go!

about 18 months ago Mrs Elvis & I had shares in 8 horses. we are down to 2 now ( 1 of them hasn't run in 2 YEARS, his last run was a winner ) apparently he is coming out during Christmas time... seeing is believing.
I am not sour to the game, but believe it's time for a breather & perhaps will get involved in NEW STOCK towards middle of next year, but there is no rush.
It's very true that when your horses cant tribute to their monthly keep & they kepp running 9th an 10th, one sours to the game very quickly.
On the other hand everybody LOVES OWNING A CHAMPION, they just hard to find & are like rocking horse sh!t.
