8 year old mare top class HONEYSUCKLE ridden by Rachael Blackmore is the clear pick on form and is our firm selection, trained by Henry de Bromhead, she won the irish Champion hurdle last time out in early February, and also won this race last year in scintillating style by over 6 lengths!

HONEYSUCKLE really does look to hold all the aces in what is a very seemingly ordinary Champion Hurdle this year apart from her, she is odds to win and rightly so, and should do so with the minimum of fuss

We have chosen the Gordon Elliott trained young horse TEAHUPOO as a good value 2nd best, and in the event of a shock, he is a very classy gelding having won his last 3 races, and is only 5 years old and still improving, and he could be the one to be on in next year's race, but really they are all racing for place money if "Honey" turns up in her best form this festival,

but we can see the Irish taking 1-2 home with them with the 2 selections 🇮🇪

A Quickfire double is on the cards for De Bromhead and Rachel Blackmore (Pictured) with TELMESOMETHINGGIRL who is a lovely 7 year old mare and comes into this event as a very fresh horse, having not ran since December 29th, Blackmore won on this mare last festival in the Dawn Run Novice Hurdle, all seems set fair for a another win for this "double act" the race will be run at a fast pace and that will suit her very much as she likes to be at the back and come with a late run, the race conditions with the weights also greatly favour TELMESOMETHINGGIRL and given she will be ready to roll and trained to perfection for this race, it should be a happy ending and another winner for the most popular jockey in racing.

Second best is yet another Elliott horse, QUEENS BROOK ridden by stable jockey Jack Kennedy, progressing all the time with a great attitude in her races, the yard have had this event in mind for her for some time and if there are any flaws in our top pick, Queens could be the one to gain from them, a very interesting race all in all, but we will be disappointed if our selection does not do the business

This could turn into a "procession" for GAELIC WARRIOR if the vibes we are getting through from Ireland are correct! Willie Mullins trains this 4 year old gelding having purchased him for top owner " RICH RICCI (photo) " from French handler G Macaire, he has been working outstanding at home and jumps from fence to fence with older horses we are told, not raced for almost a year Mullins has been ultra protective with him, and he is thought of as a potential Champion Hurdle winner,

if that is the case a handicap mark of just 129 will seem like a featherweight for him in this race, Paul Townend rides the highly regarded gelding and we believe he will ride a impressive winner...as you have read we are confident that GAELIC WARRIOR is what we see as a handicap snip and has been bought and trained to land the famous owners another big race winner.

but we will suggest that a potential banana skin could be THE TIDE TURNS..who is tongue tied for the first time by Gordon Elliott and is fancied to run well but may prefer a bit further. but it's GAELIC WARRIOR for us to show the handicapper has made a big error in his weight assessment,
and for scenes of high excitement ahead in the winners enclosure with his charismatic owner at the centre of the attention

Patrick Mullins can land this with STATTLER for his father Willie, the 7 year old former high class hurdling gelding has only had 2 races over the bigger obstacles but has already shown top class ability and is taken to score in this 7 runner event for amateur jockeys, the trip of 3 miles 5 furlongs will suit and comes into the race as a fresh horse only having 2 runs in the past 12 months, STATTLER is a strong selection to end the day on a high note, the danger at a good price we feel is PATS FANCY who we expect to be also suited by the distance of the race and will improve for it, Rebecca Curtis trains "Pats", she likes to bowl along in front or at the head of affairs, but for us it is another winner for the Irish with STATTLER and highly experienced pilot Patrick Mullins to celebrate another big winner!
