Nadine’s 1st 4 and Trainer comments

RACE 1 :

1st four selections

1 / 3 / 2 / 4

• GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1, 4 and 6 - FALLING FOR YOU, PHANTOM ROLLS & LAST KINGDOM : Falling for You is good form on the surface and has an each way chance. Phantom Rolls improved in his last and has a place chance again. Last Kingdom needed his debut and can improve.

• ALAN GREEFF - Number 3 - LEPRECHAUN : He placed on local debut and has an each way chance.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 7 - QUEEN NITOCRIS : Better is expected back to the mile, where she has so far run her best race.

TARA LAING - Number 2 - APOLLO ROCK : He tries further and hoping he can get even closer.

RACE 2 :

1st four selection

4 / 1 / 3 / 2

• GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1 and 3 - DAWNBREAKER & STORY OF MY LIFE : Dawnbreaker races off a long break and could need this, but he loves Poly, is always trying and can’t be left out. Story of my Life is consistently thereabouts and always in with a shout.

• SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 2 and 4 - LETS PLAY BALL & DESERT CHIEF : Both horses are honest and expected to be competitive. Lets Play Ball loves the Poly, he was ran a good over too short on grass in his last despite finding a lot of trouble and if settles here, he will be flying late. Desert Chief is in good from and definitely in with a shout.

ALAN GREEFF - Number 5 - STREAM OF KINDNESS : She is in a tough field but loves the Poly and could place.

GRANT PADDOCK - Number 6 - LORD MARSHAL : What you see is what you get with him, he’s very honest. He is up a division but has a chance to earn in a small field.

RACE 3 :

1st four selections

6 / 8 / 2 / 7

• JUAN NEL - Number 6 - SALVADORA : She ran well on over 1900m in her last and was doing her best work late, so she should enjoy a bit extra. She likes the Poly and a similar run again is expected.

• JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 8 and 9 - COIN MISTRESS & BILLI ANN : Coin Mistress had excuses for her last, better is expected and she can earn. Billi Ann has enjoyed trying distance of late and the extra again here will suit.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 2 and 4 - BORN TO BE GREAT & TRIAL RUN : Born to be Great has been running fair races of recent and can get involved. Hoping for improvement from Trial Run.

STEPHEN LERENA - Number 3 - LUKE’S LEGACY : He races off in and out grass form back in the Highveld and the question will be how he takes to Poly, but he shows good sand work so I am hoping he can bring his work to the new surface. He has travelled well.

GRANT PADDOCK - Number 5 - LADY CLEMENTINE : She has her first run for the yard and I’m hoping for improvement.

RACE 4 :

1st four selections

2 / 1 / 3 / 4

• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1 and 2 - MERYL & ONTENDERHOOKS : Meryl is top weight, but well weighted in the line up. She is in good form and will be involved. Ontenderhooks has the weight advantage with her stable companion on their previous meeting and could have the upper hand between the two. Both are expected to run well.

• SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 4 and 8 - SEEKING WISDOM & KENTUCKY BLUE : Seeking Wisdom is as honest as they come, very reliable and though she may have a slight preference for turf, drawn well here, she is certainly in with a shout. Kentucky Blue also always tries, she jarred herself in her last, so had excuses and better is expected from her here.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 5 - SAO PAULO : She is in a strong field but you can never leave her out on Poly which she loves.

GAVIN SMITH - Number 7 - ROCKSETTE : She lines up in a competitive field and as a place chance.

TARA LAING - Number 9 - RED HERRING : She has run her best races on the grass but with no races available for her there she’ll take her chances on Poly.

RACE 5 :

1st four selections

7 / 3 / 6 / 5

• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2 and 7 - GREEN LANTERN & DUKE OF CARDS : Green Lantern is off form at the moment, so just hoping for improvement. Duke of Cards is holding form very well and has a winning chance again here.

• SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 3 and 8 - AMEX & RECONNAISSANCE : Amex takes on the boys, she is a nice honest filly and is a runner. Reconnaissance has been freshened up for this, his form is fair and he is not without a chance.

STEPHEN LERENA - Number 5 - LATEST CRAZE : He has an each way shout depending on how he takes to the Poly, which he will race on for the first time. He has travelled well.

JUAN NEL - Number 9 - OCEAN MASTER : The first run out of the maidens is always hard to gauge, but he won well on Poly so I am hoping his win wasn’t a flash in the pan.

GRANT PADDOCK - Number 10 - SAUVAGE : He ran a nice first race in PE last time out and is working well. I would have preferred to have gotten him into merit rated 68 line up, but he does have a quartet chance.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 11 - CHESTNUT WILD : He should prefer the extra, so hoping for improvement.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1 and 4 - PICK AGAIN & REACH FOR THE LINE : Pick Again has needed his runs leading into this back from a break and drawn well and up to the mile he will be better suited. Reach for the Line is expected to improve.

RACE 6 :

1st four selections

2 / 8 / 10 / 5

• STEPHEN LERENA - Number 2 - SAMARRA : She has an each way chance depending on how she takes to the surface which she tries for the first time. She has travelled well.

• ALAN GREEFF - Number 8 - TAWNY JET : She tries the blinkers and steps up in trip and improvement is expected.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 4, 7 and 11 - GINA’S GIRL, DOUBLE SHUFFLE & KINDRED COUNTESS : All three fillies have their first starts out of the maidens so they will have a tougher task up in class.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 5 and 13 - FLAME OF FIRE & TREE OF LIFE : Flame of Fire ran a good last trying the mile for the first time and she is expected to be competitive again. Tree of Life may find 1600m a stretch, her best run so far has been over a sprinting trip.

MONTANA TURNER - Number 6 - RITCHI : She is new to the yard and this will be a learning run. She is working well on the Poly but this race will be a prep to bring on for a distance race a little later.

TARA LAING - Number 1 - DOUBLED OVER : She didn’t jump in her last so a line can be drawn through that run. We do have to hope she jumps here, if so she will run a better race.

SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 3 and 9 - EFFORT & EASYBYFAR : Both fillies are well drawn and are runners here. Effort is a consistent performer and Easybyfar, though a bit disappointing over the 1400m in her last will appreciate being up to the mile and better is expected.

RACE 7 :

1st four selections

1 / 2 / 6 / 5

• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2, 5 and 6 - JUAN TWO THREE, ALDO & PURPLE DIAMOND : Juan Two Three is a class act and always a runner. Aldo looks to be trying hard to find his form again and now on his favoured surface could get even closer. Purple Diamond could find this a touch sharp, but he is a nice horse.

• GRANT PADDOCK - Number 3 - ALWAHSH : He has the drawn to beat because although a small field, all the pace is on his inside and will get first run on him. Also, he would be better over 1200m.

RACE 8 :

1st four selections

2 / 4 / 8 / 13

• ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2, 7 and 13 - MISS ORANGE, SCENT OF A DREAM & LADYSMITH : Miss Orange ran out a good win in her last and though she has the draw to overcome can be there again. Scent of a Dream is up in class having her first run out of the maidens. Ladysmith is overdue to record her second win.

• GRANT PADDOCK - Numbers 4 and 12 - ORLANDA & INTHEPURPLERAIN : Both fillies can be competitive and must be included in the P6, tho In the Purple Rain is showing more at work.

DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Number 14 - NEVERLETUGO : She’s drawn well and I think that although she would prefer 1400m on turf, she will give a good account of herself.

TARA LAING - Number 1 - ELUSIVE JAID : Her post maiden run last time out was modest, she could perhaps place.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 3, 6 and 10 - YODALICIOUS, STAR OF GIBRALTAR & VIVA LE BLEU : Yodalicious is holding form well and is definitely a runner. Star of Gibraltar was unlucky in her last with a saddle slip which made her hard to assist late and she will improve and can place. Viva le Bleu was disappointing in her last and better is expected from her.

MONTANA TURNER - Number 5 - LAW AND ORDER : She is working well and looking well and hopefully can see the extra furlong out.

And it seems plenty are giving local racing a miss lately.
Take todays thread for instance,5 replies before mine and 3 of them are from Bob.
Everything about SA racing has become mediocre at best.
Just glad we still can bet on HK and Singapore.
I thought I would never say this but I prefer to even bet on USA racing rather than ours.
