TRAINER COMMENTS :

RACE 1 :

FIRST FOUR SELECTIONS :

7 / 5 / 1 / 6

SHARON KOTZEN - Number 5 - PRINCESS BLITZ : She runs off a little break but is a 1000m specialist and even though against the boys, should run well.

GAVIN SMITH - Number 7 - LITTLE RED STAR : She ran out a fair, she’s a pacey sort and has a place chance.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 1 - FERRARI’S MOON : He enjoys the Poly and can place.

RACE 2 :

FIRST FOUR SELECTIONS :

5 / 4 / 3 / 1

SHARON KOTZEN - Number 4 - KATASHA : She ran a great race with the change of headgear and tactics last time out and if she repeats that now on Poly she is in with a shout.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 5 and 7 - JENNY DENNY & VELVET BROWN : Jenny Denny was green on local debut, she tries the Poly in PE for the first time. Hoping for an improved run from Velvet Brown.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 6 - STAR OF FAIRVIEW : She is a nice filly and if not too green having her first start, can earn.

ALAN GREEFF - Number 3 - HIDDEN POWER : Always in the mix, she has an each way chance.

RACE 3 :

FIRST FOUR SELECTIONS :

1 / 2 / 5 / 8

SHARON KOTZEN - Number 1 - FINLEY HILL : He is always right there and has a winning chance.

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 8 and 9 - ANGKOR & CAFE CUBANO : Angkor seems to have just gone off the boil and can hopefully manage better. Cafe Cubano takes on older, he is still finding his feet.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 4 - CHANONE’S THEORY : He needs to do more.

TARA LAING - Number 6 - SHY GUY : He will need this run.

GAVIN SMITH - Number 7 - ROCKS AND DAGGERS : Improvement is expected.

RACE 4 :

FIRST FOUR SELECTIONS :

1 / 5 / 7 / 2

• SHARON KOTZEN - Number 1 - ELUSIVE GREEN : She is in good form and another competitive run is expected from her.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 3 and 5 - ROSIE & FASHION FORCE : Rosie cuts back in trip and it should suit. Fashion Force ran a good race in her last and should follow up.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 6 - SETTLEMENT DAY : Hoping for improvement.

ALAN GREEFF - Number 7 - ICE MINT : She can improve up in trip and earn.

TARA LAING - Number 2 - BRAGGIE’S SUNSHINE : She needed her last and improvement is expected here up in distance.

RACE 5 :

FIRST FOUR SELECTIONS :

5 / 1 / 10 / 3

JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 1, 2, 10 and 12 - FRIKKIE, ONESIE, SAMAR & OMAHA TRIBE : Frikkie and Onesie are prepping for the Gold Cup. Frikkie must have a chance. Hoping for a good run from Onesie. Samar has come on well and a bit of a trip is exactly what he’s looking for, a good run is expected. Omaha Tribe has more to do.

SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 5, 7 and 8 - DATA LINK, CHIEF BLACK HORSE & BALTIC DANSEUR : All three are genuine stayers and this 2200m is up their alley. They are all fit and well. Data Link is consistent and though she could have a better draw she has beaten the boys before. Chief Black Horse managed a great post maiden run last time out. Baltic Danseur has his post maiden run and is up in class, but not without chance.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 3, 4 and 6 - WHEEL OF TIME, ROSSLYN CHAPEL & GOLDEN SHAMROCK : Wheel of Time is coming to hand and should place. Rosslyn Chapel races off fair recent form. Hoping for improvement from Golden Shamrock.

RACE 6 :

FIRST FOUR SELECTIONS :

4 / 5 / 2 / 8

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2, 3 and 4 - EPIC STORM, DALLEY & ETERNAL NIGHT : Epic Storm is in great form and though up in the ratings has an each way shout. Dalley will appreciate the step up in trip and can improve. Eternal Night enjoys he Poly and could also be in with each way claims.

SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 5 and 7 - SEATTLE SOUND & SPOILS OF WAR : Seattle Sound has been very consistent . She is a lovely filly and though drawn wide (she never cracks a draw), she should give a very good account of herself. Spoils of War won her maiden with authority and though she is up in class having her post maiden run she will run a decent race.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1, 6, 9 and 10 - REDBERRY WOOD, CLOSE TO MY HEART, CHESTNUT LEGACY & LATERAL’S FLASH : Redberry Wood has needed her starts so far and improvement is expected up in trip. Close to my Heart and Lateral’s Flash both enjoy track and trip and can run into quartets. Chestnut Legacy is up in class having her post maiden run.

RACE 7 :

FIRST FOUR SELECTIONS :

4 / 6 / 1 / 3

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1 and 6 - FOUNDING FATHER & PICK AGAIN : Founding Father races fresh and should need this. Pick Again ran a decent last and should be there again.

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 4 and 5 - VOICES OF LIGHT & DYNASTY’S BOY : It is a concern that Voices of Light gives away start, but he does fly late and can win. Dynasty’s Boy was a facile winner in his last but is up in ratings and in class. He is working well though and is not without chance.

TARA LAING - Number 7 - LARRY JACK : He bumps a very competitive field but can run into quartets.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 8 - GO SNOW GIRL GO : She is a nice filly and I’m hoping for better making her Poly debut.

RACE 8 :

FIRST FOUR SELECTIONS :

4 / 5 / 6 / 1

SHARON KOTZEN - Number 4 - LETS BE FRANK : He ran a cracker in his last and though a 1400m would be ideal, if it wasn’t for the wide draw I would be quite confident.

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 5 and 7 - SEVILLE & CLIFTON BEACH : Seville can be erratic but on the strength of his win in his one Poly start so far he can’t be overlooked. Clifton Beach has done her best on Poly and though against the boys can get involved.

JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 6 - CHESTNUT WILD : He is so consistent and always thereabouts so he should be in the action again.

GRANT PADDOCK - Numbers 11 and 15 - ROCK THE COT & BURNT ROCK : Rock the Cot needs to show improve. Burnt Rock has his second run after the lay off and could still need it.

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1, 9 and 13 - MASTERFUL, TWICE A POET & MASTER NEWTON : Masterful and Master Newton both ran good races last time out over track and trip. Hoping for improvement from Twice a Poet.

PRINCESS BLITZ is speedy, she will go hard upfront (could run out of steam at the 950m mark or could just last)

Heart stone will be on her tail and chasing her down (could nip the win on the post)

Swinger/exacta

Wins on HEART STONE

I fancy a bit of masterful in the last for the double...

I heard ferrari's moon r1 drop in distance in a weak field
and r2 watchout for suzi Mayweather at 33-1

Sharon Kotzen going for a quick treble with Finley Hill.
Surely Lyle can't stuff this one up.

Rather strange ride on Elusive Green there, almost pulled the poor horse's head off. From draw 3 ended up at the back of the field turning for home and left with just too much to do.
