.....same with Gary Player Stud..........there must be a reason why they do not want to vaccinate the youngsters...could have found that they have an adverse affect...and thus the risk.....

My idea of "help from above" is a sniper on the roof
and a higher power is a hell fire missile armed drone.

I would have thought it would be a serious offense but with a grand fine obviously not?

Every single year in the capital London an odd thing happens. 1000's of luxury cars are flown in by their middle east owners and spend the summer in London. These guys and gals have so much money that i often see a car has 5 or 6 parking tickets on its windshield.

The tickets are for £60 , to fly the vehicle here must be £15k never mind the cost of the vehicle.

The fines imposed to the breeders are along the same lines. Its cheaper to pay the paltry R1000 and have your horses in impeccable condition for the sale. Than to vaccinate and run the risk of selling the horse for R2000 less.

Clearly I am not aware of all the facts, but I would believe that the Daytona DID vaccinate their 2017 crop of foals but not strictly in accordance with the NHA's timelines - maybe a day or two late?? Hence the minor fine??

I am somewhat amused (bemused?) though that Jason Gates picked up a greater fine for celebrating a clear victory in the 400m Dash than other riders who breached the crop rules. Personally, and I know there are always differing points of view, I believe that jockeys celebrating victories should be encouraged rather than punished!! It should be up to the rider to do so while ensuring he is in full control of his mount but let's not kill the passion and the joy of winning!!

Thats a fair comment and reasonable explanation for the smaller fine

The crux of the matter here is an entire crop not vaccinated gets the breeder the identical fine that a trainer receives if one of his horses has not been vaccinated correctly.

Only a moron, or the NHA, would see that as fair.
