20/20 is not real cricket imo. It was meant to hit the US big as they like a quick fix but it has not. Its a family evening out with the kids and wife and a hamper. Extremely dangerous if you are not focused on the match as the ball could hit you at anytime especially with the likes of Gayle etc at the crease. I take very little interest in the IPL as i believe its not all that up to be what they make it out to be. The English version has no atmosphere as the crowds are small and dont get involved as much. Maybe its the TV commentators that make it boring. The Big Bash is by far the best. Huge crowds, big hitting, and with the players wired up makes it all the more fun to watch. The Ram Slam just does appear to have taken off and besides why do the teams who are at home play at neutral venues (i suppose its to show case it all around the country which is good) The Caribbean version is ok but attract players who are "2nd rate" Still nice to watch if there is nothing else to do. Now Dubai have a masters version with some of the players well into their 40s. I suppose that they have blown all their earnings and now are looking for one last big pay day

"I have no idea what the footballers get for playing for England."

My understanding is that they don't get much above their expenses. Bafana were paid more at the 2010 world cup.

The good think for SA cricket is that some new blood is coming through the ranks ans with the likes of quintin dekock riley russouw themba bavuma kagiso rabada all with decent experience in either of the formats, it bids well. Lets not forget Amla and AB may have a few years left

Maybe that's something South Africa should try, then you may be able to stop the slump.
Have you even got a football team? In 20 years you won't have any notable national sides.
Why do you think South African sportsmen pray they have some Anglo Saxon blood from their ancestors.Answer is to get away from a sadly deteriating sporting future.

Soccer the biggest sport in SA, but the supporters don`t use the internet as much as the minority sport fans

Former Shaktar Donesk player Texiria was due to sign for Liverpool but instead went joined a side in China. His reason for not signing for Liverpool. Liverpool did not come up with a serious offer. Liverpool offered him £120K a week. These players live in a different world.

Greed is going to make the world go bust !! My Mum and Dad combined didn't earn that (+-R2.7 million) during their entire working lives... :(

its crazy but then the fans are the ones who are the suckers as we subscribe to Sky etc who buy it from the FA who then sell the rights around the globe. Madness as we pay the most but see the least amount of matches live. You guys can pick n choose your match on the weekends whereas Sky show 3 matches and BT sport just the 1. Clubs are making tens of millions from the TV rights and thats the reason why the players command such massive salaries. No harm in that but then they become greedy and want more and more. They pay super tax and NI but still what most of them get out a week is more than most in the UK earn in a year

What is your subscription? As people say you can't compare, but in this case I disagree. Supersport have to buy the rights from sky. Our dstv ackages that show all the soccer games (every premier league game of the season, All fa cup games where a PL team is playing, La Liga games where let's say the top 6 are playing, Int friendlies where top sides are playing, and obviously all games of major tounament) range between R650 and R900... Would be interesting to see the difference in pricing....

£82 per month for multi room. Should be £92 but i haggled with them. There are 100s of channels but like everyone else i only watch the Sport, News, a few movies a month, the Comedy Channel, all the good stuff form the US on Sky Atlantic, the music channels at full blast when the missus is not around.

Jeepers, so the average person pays £92 pm, and can't even watch all the soccer games in your own country..... That imo is ridiculous.....

yep but we do get Italian, German, Dutch, Spanish, MLS, Australian league. Lots of rugby, cricket, darts and all sorts of sports to cater for everyone. In the winter its good to have as its a nightmare driving, especially in Scotland at night. Lots of great shows as well so its not too bad. Remember they have to pay for all these ex Liverpool players who are now pundits. I wish that they would send them off for elocution lessons before they stick them on air. Some matches there are as many as 5 of them talking the same shit that you and I already know.

To put the cost into perspective. 92 pounds is about 26 pints. R700 is about 36 castles so it is more expensive in SA.
