Liverpool Football Club have just announced that they won`t win the EPL until at least 2022

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has signed a six-year contract extension to stay at the club.

Klopp only joined Liverpool in October, then agreeing a £15m deal until 2018, with the option of another year.

"We are very much at the beginning of our journey," said Klopp, 49, on Liverpool's website.

German Klopp took Liverpool the finals of the League Cup and the Europa League last season after guiding Borussia Dortmund to two German titles.

Despite only being at Anfield for nine months, Klopp's contract has been extended as a show of faith from Liverpool's hierarchy.

It is also to ward off any potential debate about his future.

"The ideas and plans he has for the football infrastructure excite us," said Liverpool's principal owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon in a joint statement.

"We believe it benefits the organisation to have Jurgen committed to Liverpool for a sustained period, to make sure he is here to oversee this development."
