Commercial initiatives well advanced to counter new competitive dynamics affecting Isle of Man operations - anyone know what this is?
Headline earnings per share decreased 4%
The Group’s total net betting income grew by 13%:
The share of profits from limited payout machines installed in retail outlets grew by 20%
Prize monies increased by 2% (but HRA is the largest shareholder who, furthermore, will earn dividends)

The Group’s total net betting income grew by 13%:
- Net tote betting income on soccer increased by 24%
- Net betting income from fixed odds overall grew by 39%
- Fixed odds betting income on sports other than horseracing increased by 206%
- Fixed odds net betting income on numbers increased by 37%
- Net betting income from local tote operations increased by 9%
- Net betting income from local and imported horseracing grew by 2% (A negative considering the impact of inflation). (Tote betting volumes on horseracing, lost as a result of the temporary suspension of the broadcast of international content on the Tellytrack channel last financial year, have increased markedly but have not yet fully recovered)

Would be interested in any strategy being considered in view of the inicators
a)local racing falling short of inflationary margins-it needs revenue not parties!
b) the negative effect of the "big stick" approach to the disagreement with bookies
c)the figures seem to confirm what we have been pointing out ........people prefer fixed odds ........so introduce a fixed-odds tote (AKA a betting exchange)

The figures and statement confirms what we already know.
A company performing well in every aspect bar it's origins and original founding mission.
The question that needs asking is what can be done to change the view on local racing, the big cash drain on both overall performance and resources.
If the racing strategy and competency remains unchanged the outcome is not in doubt, just the time frame to curtain call for local racing.
Racing needs a creative non-conventional approach as it is very clear that knowledge, experience and traditional wisdom falls miles short of what is required to create sustainable new appeal and profitability.
