Electricity

We had load-shedding from 17h47 to 18h08 today...this is what happens when the lunatics are in charge of an asylum...

We can live with stage 1 and 2 but stage 3 in scary the power will be off 3 times a day we have an invertor at the pub.
The house is 2 streets from pub but a different zone will just have to install a shower at pub to survive

The progress we have made as a nation can be seen in the simplest of benchmarks...when I was 7 years young, you pressed a switch and the lights came on...now, my 7 year old asks me every day if there is going to be "load-shedding" (a term I never knew until I was more than 30 years old) as it impacts on when and what homework she can get done...
And every one of us (albeit unwillingly for some people) pays for this asylum run by lunatics...

1 in 4 people in formal sector employment in South African is employed by the state (government, quasi government, SOE, etc)...now the biggest formal sector employer in South Africa...
State salary bill is +-R450 billion annually after latest wage settlement...almost half government spending and more than half government income...
Public debt has climbed from +-R450 billion to more than R1,6 trillion...simple mortgaging of our children's futures as taxpayer fund everything in the future...the state spends more than R100 billion annually on interest payments on this public debt...
The numbers are not sustainable and that is what scares me the most as the chickens will come home to roost as some point in time...the inevitable can be deferred but cannot be avoided...
We only have +-5 million individuals that are over the income tax threshold and I'm aware of the arguments that everyone is a taxpayer because of VAT but most staples are zero-rated or exempt to provide relief to the poor...so they do not contribute to the fiscus...
Worrying and extremely difficult days lie ahead...

That "inevitable" is no more than 3 years away, at the current trends!
The amount of nonsense we are fed is amazing .....today Eskom was praised for the new load shedding plans BUT there will now be more stage 3 load shedding as they have lowered the threshold.........and looking at the schedule for my area , if stage 3 was implemented today I would be switched off 3 times in 24 hours, each time for 4.5 hours-that is 13.5 hours out of 24!
Ironic that we had a strategy to stop the ANC destroying the country's power network, with bombs,in the eighties, but they've eventually done it with incompetence!....lol.
