S.A rugby in Tatters

• Two major sponsors (BMW and Absa) pulled the plug.
•Absa, not only pulled the plug on Springboks, but in SA, so no more ABSA currie cup.
•Considering giving Meyer a 1 year extension due to "no suitable replacements". FFS, you had a world class coach coming to the country. If SARU weren't so blady slow, they should have been lining up replacement coaches 12 months ago, when Meyer's performances were already being questioned. Instead he is now gone and they sit scratching their craniums wondering what to do next...

Replacements available in John Mitchell in tandem with Johan Ackermann...will surely do a better job than Heyneke Meyer...

Apparently they are in talks with FNB, but they didn't stipulate if that was for all S.A teams or just Boks. Cost Absa R600m over last 4 years.

Am I right in thinking that ABSA is a bank? Well if that's the case then they can afford the cost as banks are the biggest gangsters on the planet.

Lol, sorry I didn't mention I did not think that was too steep... For all the marketing they get and the amount of money they have... I can only imagine how many people in SA are walking around with ABSA printed on their gut come rugby time....
Maybe FNB have had something to do with it, as they have been sponsoring school sports and Varsity sports, and they have been doing a very good job.

Maybe the SA Rugby Board will approach Emirates. They are fast becoming major players in sports sponsorship.

It could have something to do with their name change transition to Barclays. Marketing pony-tale reasons. In two seasons we may just see the Barclays Currie Cup.

Still no new coach appointed. How long is it now since Meyer left? Well over a month, its laughable that they still have not found anybody as yet.

I would try and get a Kiwi coach and if that does not happen then either the Stormers ex coach Coetzee or Ackerman of the Lions. Give the latter two a one year contract and see how it goes. Best scenario would be a foreign coach as he wont have any mates to select and he wont be told who to select and hopefully the likes of Habana, Peterson, Vermeulan, Louw etc can still be selected although they are plying their trade in France, UK and Japan

No one of significance available and wanting the job as transformation is key requirement to next World Cup...
