Looks forgone that Lions will be the top SA team again

9/10 looks a steal

I see Kolisi has been named Stormers Captain and SM has gone into meltdown

Bob could you please ask Garrick to give us his views on the forthcoming S18 season, as has now become tradition?

As usual the NZ sides will dominate. I can see the same happening as last year with 4 NZ sides occupying the 5 playoff spots from the Australasian group. Only the Australian conference winner to progress. Hurricanes and Highlanders have very strong looking sides again and should dominate the competition. Chiefs are always competitive and will be right up there. The Crusaders seem to be a shadow of their former selves and will probably sneak into the playoffs. The Blues have a better side on paper this year and although not playing several of their top players against the Rebels could threaten the Crusaders for a playoff spot.

The "South African" Conferences look more competitive. I agree with Bob, The Lions look the best team in the South African Group and only have to finish ahead of the Sharks to win the Africa 2 Conference. It looks a boat race between the Stormers and Bulls for the Africa 1 Conference. This could go either way as both sides have not been too consistent of late. I would go slightly with the Stormers to finish ahead of the Bulls. It will be another tight race for the 3rd playoff spot.

I must say that I do not find this extended competition anywhere near as good as the old Super 14 and 15 competitions. Where every team played every other team. I hope they re-look at the structure soon.

Always tricky to have a go early in competition but the value for me on weekend
Brumbies + 14.5 vs Crusaders - Crusaders are slow starters and do not look that strong on paper
Hurricanes -28.5 vs Sunwolves - this should be a massacre , closer to 50
In the six nations -
England -41.5 vs Italy - this could be closer to 70 or 80
Wales OR vs Scotland - both have nothing to play for but Wales to edge it

Scotland at home to Wales will be very close. Snow coming overnight along with 10k Welshman to drink Edinburgh and surrounds dry again. Going for a close 2-5 point Scotland win.

Sunwolves to hold the Hurricanes scoreless for the first 5 minutes then the taps will open

Stormers to be thrashed by the Bulls (using my reverse psychology)
