The Stormers, by a distance, are the best side in SA. So where does this thrashing by the Crusaders leave SA rugby? Poor state of affairs but on the positive side, surely things can only improve, or can they.

At least they drew the 2nd half

surely by now the people who have implemented and enforce the ruling can see that its not working and it should be changed. No youngster no matter who they are will want to aspire to become a Bok if they see whats going on the field. Youngsters love to have heros who they can copy. Any heros in the Bok side at the moment?

If you watched even 10min of the shower of shit on offer from Durban last night, you would probably never watch a game ever again... Imvho probably goes down as the worst game of crap I have ever witnessed...

Agreed .... however for the coach to come out publicly and state that the spectators should be refunded their 'gate fees', is not the way to build confidence - I'm sure the players are all aware that most of them had a bad game (especially the young Mr Bosch); this comment by the coach imo does not help .... and I think they are going to see the effect of this against the Jagueres this weekend

The Stormers of course were humiliated in the first half, but I think they will improve as their tour go on - and they will still comfortably top their group (helped by the fact that the other teams in the group are really poor)

And imo, although quotas should not be used in selection, I don't agree with the argument that 'quota players' being selected are the main reason for the poor state of our rugby - many of 'them' imo deserve their places on merit. Imo the bigger problem is the standard of coaching - as witnessed by the improvement of the Stormers this season after enlisting the services of a NZ 'advisor'.

For me, the current setup of the tournament needs a re-think - the decision to remove 2 SA sides seems to have been made without too much thought - to me the teams that definitely do not belong are the Sunwolves and the Kings, and then probably one of the Aussie sides - apart from the Brumbies they all seem pretty poor. Maybe it is time to just scrap this whole tournament and start from scratch with 4 or 5 teams from NZ, 2 or 3 from SA and Aus and the Jaguares.

Frodo, boet it is the ONLY reason !!!!    What most don't understand, this goes down to school level, 8 yr olds. You now have children leaving at an early age which causes a huge problem with depth. You have kids telling the coach at school, I dont need to come to practise I'm already in the team. I can go on for hours with examples but all I know is team sports in SA is fucked ! Players playing out of position to accommodate quota players etc etc

i agree with Frodo - coaches are our problem, not quotas

bulls, sharks and the national team have brain dead coaches, fleckie would have been in the same boat without some outside help
