Thursday's Tote jackpot passes £2 million mark
THURSDAY'S Tote Jackpot at Haydock has passed the £2 million mark and a single winner could win the biggest ever prize in jackpot history.
The pool, which was last won at Yarmouth on July 26, stood at £981,875 on Thursday morning after punters failed to win it at Newcastle on Wednesday.
The largest rollover was £1,127,824 at Exeter in 1995 and Thursday's pot has topped that, after reaching £2,056,974 by 2.05pm on the day of racing.
Speaking on Racing UK, Tote spokesman George Primarolo said on Thursday: "A lot of people leave it late to put their perms on and it could reach one and three quarters of a million - pushing the two million mark.
"It's rare for the jackpot to rollover for this long at this time of the year and it looked like being won yesterday.
"Looking at the card at Haydock today, it's odds on it will be won."
Haydock's first race is due off at 2.10pm.

Starkat win sees punters nail record Tote Jackpot
THE biggest-ever Tote Jackpot rollover was won at Haydock on Thursday after Starkat, who carried £14.50 going into the final leg, claimed victory in the concluding race under Jamie Spencer.
The pool, which had not been won since July 26 at Yarmouth, reached £2,308,852 before racing, with £981,875 brought over from Newcastle on Wednesday.
Wins for Fabiello, Tallahasse, Spinning Spirit, Uphold and Joseph Lister left the total at £94.50 going to the sixth and final race. All ten horses in the finale were covered.
The previous highest rollover was £1,127,824.07 at Exeter in 1995, while the biggest pot won by an individual punter was £510,995.59 at Aintree in 2008.
The dividend paid £113,054.10 to a £1 stake.
"The Tote Jackpot sent the betting public into a frenzy on Thursday afternoon and records have been smashed left, right and centre," said Totepool managing director David Craven.
"It's great news not only for the Tote but the whole racing community and with an estimated £1.3 million up for grabs on Saturday's Scoop6, punters will be itching to have another crack at a huge payout this weekend."
One of the winners was a Ladbrokes shopcustomer who wagered £4 in total but placed his bet to a £2 unit stake meaning he collects £226,108.20. The other winning punters are believed to be large-staking customers.

Findlay syndicate among six Scoop6 winners
HARRY FINDLAY has always been among the biggest champions of the Scoop6, and the professional gambler continued his impressive strike-rate on Saturday when his big-staking syndicate was responsible for one of the six tickets that each earned £147,177.30 as the bet was won for the first time since June 26.
The winners also included a William Hill betting shop punter from Birmingham who staked £32, and two Betfair clients.
Findlay, who recently won his appeal against his warning off by the BHA, is now looking for the winnersto pool their resources in order to land the £512,266 bonus next Saturday.
After more than £805,000 was bet into the pools, there were still 18 tickets alive going into the final leg at Haydock, won by the Michael Jarvis-trained Hot Prospect with the 5-1 chance becoming only the second Investec Derby runner to experience victory since Epsom.
There were 547 winners of the place dividend which paid £294.40
