about UK racing on this forum. Strange when you have been fed garbage all your life and then a decent plate comes along you spurn it. Well bad habits do die hard. SA racing, according to most posters on the SA Racing websites is rubbish, run by idiots, the jockeys are usless etc etc...yet you carry on betting on the SA races, carry on been members, carry on going to the track. Make up your minds, You either back it 100% and accept the downfalls or just walk away. But then as I stated bad habits die hard.

chicken are you referring to the habits of the industry leaders in the running of the spectacle, or the punters? point being, the punters are busy walking away....and so are other industry players

What a crock. Love it and shut up OR walk away?
Since when is that the only two options? I love horseracing, and I prefer SA racing too. But that doesn't mean it can't get better. On the contrary, because I am a racing fan I demand it get better and better and better yet.
You talk such shit!.

Hi guys been under pressure the last few days but mananged a flying visit to see Mitch at Fairview and must say these guys are very positive. His stables are first class, and they are busy tidying up painting the grandstand etc, must say it does look in a bit of a state and well overdue a facelift.
They are having a meeting (trainers/RA) today? on closing Arlington and putting in a polytrack, as far as the PE guys, get the impression they will agree (only a guess?) providing that the money for the sale does remain in PE and it does not come up North.
I have been to Arlington before and thought that was the better track and facility, but again only my opinion.
Bottom line all the best to the lads in PE they are a great bunch with racing at heart and I home their dreams/suggestions are met.

With all due respect; how can the PE guys be positive? It seems they are short of races as it is, now they are going to have half the number of races they used to have? Less opportunities for a growing (by all accounts) number of horses? They are short of races as it is? It might make financila sense to the number crunchers at P, but from a horseracing point of view, I think it sucks (and if they believe the promise of a polytrack, they probabably believe in the tooth fairy as well).
But on the other hand, what will happen if they don't agree - what is the alternative?
O yes, and to answer C&C, I agree with Jack - just because I prefer to bet on SA racing and not the Englsih stuff that gets forced down our throats on a daily basis, does not mean that I agree with everything going on in SA racing.

Hi Frodo, let me just clarify, expected them to be down in the dumps, but they are pleased with the on going upgrade of Fairview and the possibility of the new track.
I guess they normally have one week Fairview and one Arlington so it would a case of every week Fairview, I think that is where most of the PE horses are stabled?
With the polytrack and the normal track would be no reason to lose races.
However lets await the outcome of the meeting?

Shareholders looking for dividends and quick returns. If I were the PE boys I would insist on a business plan that contains at very least, guarantees, penalties for late delivery of a polytrack etc etc. Please dont forget how long it took to get the lights up at turfies and what the delay cost this lot.
The sale of the property can only filter one way - pockets of the shareholders. The final plunder before we all emigrate. A scorched earth policy for racing!!!!
