when the leaders of this industry bottle up their fat egos and their evil ulterior motives such as their own greed and financial gains at the cost of the sport ...then maybe we will see the re emergance of this battered industry...in short a miraqcle is needed

A fair question I think, but don't you think the proposal addresses the monopoly issue the best it can?
You keep racing competitive (from a control point of view) by having real regional management, but make the engine room for income "a monopoly". It's then in everyone's interest to make sure the gambling is good because that's their source of income, but each region controls it's own affairs.
To outsource it to yet another party, surely this just creates more bodies on the bandwagon and more unnecessary duplications I would have thought.

Does anyone believe that management will stay regional long term without control over income flow? Might be a costly exercise for P as they will need to rebrand and hopefully upgrade GC totes. I would guess that this cost would earn them a right to a percentage or few off of income flow to the regional "Newco's" or property management companies.
I am of the opinion that this approach is a step in the right direction for P in terms of a monopoly in every aspect of racing and perhaps this is just merely delaying the inevitable Total control by P including ownership of the assets. For me the only rationalisation that will come of this should be at a management level but I guess if certain functions are no longer required within GC, then certain administration people will join some of the management in the hunt for new jobs.
My only concern is that it appears that there is a lack of confidence in the management team at GC, therefore how can we believe that an agreement can be sucesfully negotiated in terms of income going forward. I strongly believe he who controls the purse strings controls racing or any business for that matter. How can we believe that the best interests of the two regions KZN & WC will be considered. It is fairly common knowledge that there is a large amount of in fighting at GC and with it are the agendas of individuals.
In closing my gut feel is that the region will settle on a half assed agreement that is not sustainable long term. The assets under control of the regions property co's in tern will end up in the hands of P anyway. We are well aware of what P does with assets in order to please shareholders. Players go in with eyes wide open and please dont support blindly.
