Unlucky loser, maybe. Bad ride, imo not.

Anton Marcus is probably the best jockey in SA, but in this instance he got trapped in the pocket (no pun intended), and then Bravura tires and falls back on him. By his high standards a slightly below par ride. Gerrit Schlechter rode a cracker here- he kept Anton covered, and timed his run perfectly. Off a slowish pace (unfortunately no official time taken), Past Master quickens well and gets 2 lengths start on Mother Russia, and although she was gaining, impossible to make up the deficit when she gets her run 150m out. If she had a clear run at 250m, it would have been mighty close. Mother Russia lost nothing in defeat here-she remains a champ, and a credit to Veronica Foulkes who bred 3 of the Met runners.
Few horses come back from ligament injuries to surpass their previous best, so a great training job by Darryl Hodgson, but spare a thought for Dean Kannemeyer who originally had the horse.

Any chance of these Capetonians horses raiding JHB this season?? ... I'm sure I read that Marshall tends to do that?

we always wondered when Cape horses will raid Jhb only Justin Snaith and Brett Crawford have seem to done so in recent times.please correct me if I am wrong but was Dancers Daughter the last Cape horse that raided Jhb and Mark Khan rode her.guys are always boasting the best horses come from Cape Town but when you ask them why they dont run in Jhb it is because of the climate...what a load of rubbish..if your horse is good it will win anywhere and anytime.
