Poor day today so my get out bet will be Cobo Bay in the last at Southwell hopefully bringing me into the black so that I can play turfontein

I was watching the tote betting quite closely here and when they jumped Striking the wind was paying R1-60 a win and R1-00 a place......How on God's green earth did it end up paying R3-20 for a place??????????

There is no consistency to the tote payouts. You may one day get R4-00 a place for the fav, the next day you will get R1-00 an outsider for a place. These odds certainly are changing in running and they more often than not change in favor of the first 4 in running......

Anyway no use in flogging a dead duck (for the purpose of the exercise ) but the tote is a rather large disgrace.

I don't monitor these things too closely but I get the feeling that Southwell is a very hard course to win on for a first timer.
