PASSING ON OF TOBIE VAN BOOMA

Retired jockey Tobie van Booma was killed in a motor accident over the weekend, Tobie started riding in the early 70's and for most of his career competed against some of South Africa's best jockeys in the Transvaal.

Tobie had a long and successful association with Trainer Ormonde Ferraris, and was the apprentice involved in the Gerald Turner warning off saga

Tobie won the coverted Transvaal title 81/82 beating jockey Gavin van Zyl by one winner.
