Renaming Prisons in SA - WTF::o

Probably wouldnt be a good choice of names...X(

Couldn't agree more - this is where our taxes go :X

On the bright side .....they will pobably put a few appropriate names to appropriate places.I wonder if the irony will occur to them.

All names would be considered in the process of re-naming various horse racing venues around the country. Those participating in public hearings in Gauteng, in KZN, Kim, W/Cape, E/Cape has to put forward a few names - with emphasis on celebrating icons and heroes who had dedicated themselves to the liberation and development of horse racing and on inspiring people to focus on issues of phantom punters, better place and win pay outs, scrapping of the tote all to come bet, better commentary, ect.

We can make light of the subject, but to be serious for a moment, this has to be one of the biggest money wasting exercises to be undertaken to date - a prison remains a prison, whether it is named Sun City or Nelson Mandela or Stinkgat.

I could wholeheartedly support something like the following:

''We are asking the public for suggestions on how to improve the conditions at our prisons. All suggestions would be considered in the process of improving the conditions and overcrowding at various prisons around the country,The suggestions need to inspire people to focus on issues of hope, forgiveness, development, rehabilitation and social reintegration in order to upgrade the facilities"

The only reason they want to rename them is in case they end up there then it will be like home.

Seriously i agree with Frodo lets put the tax money to something constructive rather than pander to some obscure politicos ego, however there are far better ways of ensuring a legacy for a worthy indivdual , who i am sure would rather not want a prision named after them.

isnt the local elections just around the corner??.... gotta keep the flock interested in the ruling party by renaming the prisons... not so... hehehehe

Yes it is Election time. Somebody close will get the contract to install the new names and make a killing.
