It might not be racing related, but thought this would make a good topic?

Would be very difficult to control in "any" sport.

Golf: European Tour bans gambling

Following betting scandals in other sports like cricket and snooker, the European Tour has moved affirmatively to ensure it does not happen in golf, according to NBC Sports.

The European Tour have outlined a policy that forbids players and caddies from "can either directly or indirectly bet or be involved in a bet in a competition they are playing or have any influence", NBC news quoted the Associated Press as reporting.

Players and caddies are also forbidden from sharing any "inside information", NBC Sports explained.

Ironical that betting has been a basic aspect of the game of golf long before sports betting,as we know it, was ever heard of.
I have been playing golf for over 40 years and right from the beginning it was traditional to bet,as a minimum, the equivalent of your costs,with the opposition
