Named Races July?

I am shocked to see Pocket power, big city life, dancer's daughter and bold silvano have races named after them on july day. Have GC gone mad? This is their biggest meeting of the year and the Naming Rights could have been sold. They could have had one race named after last years winner but the rest should have been sold off to a sponsor. Madness in this economic climate

Maybe they couldn't find the sponsors Mr H?? Times seem to be tough everywhere.. businesses cutting back big time...

i doubt it mickey - i bet if you called any ad agency in the country they'd be able to sell those races - more likely they wanted too much and hence no takers -

Not our clients, they have definitely cut back since the recession ....:X

Mr Hawai hi bud...why would a company want to sponsor a horse race mate..how many seconds of ad would they get?

on "ROTHMANS DAY" plenty !! I still recall starting to smoke Benson And Hedges because of the cricket. Point is Oscar that any amount of money paid to name a race would be extra revenue. If each race went for 50k then an extra 200K in the bank for zip and four different companies involved.

Schweppes and Miller and some clothing compay already in and the Kingdom of Zululand so other sponsors allowed - check the card - Just poor planning
