Well in theory 'dutching' makes sense - I rather use a special form of 'dutching'; if I do fancy 2 or more runners in a race, it can prove useful to back the one or two longer priced runners for profit, while covering your stake on the shorter priced runner - takes some discipline though and you need to be 'hands-on'; can't do this 'part-time' imo

thanks hibs..for the dutching calculator......many many times...the bookies get it wrong....especially when they have prices on a football game and they offer exotic bets on the game as well....one of the common ones is in football...for example..(not every time)....they would offer under and over 2.5 goals....now say u chose to back over 2.5 goals in a macth and the odds were say 12/10....there are only 6 possible outcomes that can beat u:1-1,0-0.1-0 ,0-1,2-0,0-2.....sometimes...the prices on the the correct score, added to the 12/10(over 2.5 goals),all put together =less than 100 %.....anything less than 100%u will make a profit...what i always wanted was a calculator to tell me how much to put on each bet to make a profit...or if i fancy something strong what i need to put so that becomes my cutter(getting my money back)...this calculator is useful

i remember the womens wimbledon final....they were betting 7/2 one of the finalists...and in set betting they were offering the other lady 2-0 3/1 and 2-1 4/1.....in womens tennis they only play best of 3...so the only possible result cn be 2 sets to love or 2 sets to 1....added all up they were betting to 89%.....and since there is no tax on sports bets thats the net....cant lose.....just borrow and put and collect

Good afternoon from sunny Liverpool!
I have been invited to come and add a little something to the discussion and I hope what I say makes sense...if not, get back to me.
I am a private handicapper, have been since 2004 and the principle weapon in my betting armoury is the Dutch. I read above someone suggesting that to do this you need discipline...couldn't agree more. You also need patience as the profit takes a little longer to accumulate but, treat it like you would stocks and shares, or putting your funds into a high interest account. It takes a little longer to get there but, with luck, you will (don't forget, the values of stocks and shares can fall, as well as rise!)...that's got that disclaimer out of the way!
I rate every horse in every handicap run on the British mainland every single day. Once I have my figures down I drawn a nice thick black line under my top six rated horses, as I'm not looking outside of them for my dutch, or any other bets I'm considering playing.
How I work is not for everyone and you will need a decent betting bank.
Once I have my six horses I'm looking for a maximum of three to play in my dutch. Sometimes that is easy. If I have no draw bias, or going concerns then it's my top three rated. As an example, I rated this race yesterday.
HAMILTON 3-30
HAIL BOLD CHIEF....+20 - 6th 11/1 > 9/1
UNKNOWN REBEL....+14 - WON 15/2 > 6/1
RECORD BREAKER....+12 - 11th 22/1
ROYAL STRAIGHT....-4
GEORGE ADAMSON....-5
BEST PROSPECT....-17
Working with my top three seems as good a way to go as any so, dutch, 20/80 HAIL BOLD CHIEF and combo exotics for me.
Let's assume you have a bank of £100 per race you are looking to play. Here I would have split my stake to ensure 50% of my bank was played on my dutch.
STAKING:
RECORD BREAKER = £8.89 @ 23
HAIL BOLD CHIEF = £17.04 @ 12
UNKNOWN REBEL = £24.06 @ 8.5
I have assumed we have obtained best odds on the exchanges.
If one of my three wins I have a forecast return of £204.53 - a projected profit of £154.53
What I myself then do is utilise up to 50% of that projected profit to cover any other bets I might be considering. This obviously has to equate to the £50, or less, I have remaining from my original bank for this race, or I can do one of two things. Work with just my dutch, or look again at how best to set my dutch up in the first instance. That very much depends on how you, the punter, works. You might be more than happy to just dutch....I like cherries on mine.
In the example I am more than happy with my projected profit and so I can use my £50 balance to play my 20/80 and set up my exotics. A 20/80 is a bet you can only play on the exchanges...20% on the win market, 80% on the place....exotics are simply forecasts, tricasts, trifectas etc.
In the example I advise I am playing HAIL BOLD CHIEF 20/80 and utilising my top three for exotics. Both those bets fail.
Assuming I used my total bank of £100 I have made a profit on the race of £104.53
The most important aspect of this whole thing is decision making. At the odds offered I could, and probably should, have split the stake set aside for my 20/80 between my top pair (effectively dutching them again from the projected profit but to the same stake) and sometimes I do suggest this.
For me, dutching is the best thing since sliced bread!
