Reuters have it as "probable" but aren't committing themselves as it is impossible so far to get independent confirmation, i.e. not from the rebel leadership who are obviously going to be potentially biased (doesn't mean they're wrong or lying, but ...).

I've seen a photo of the face but it is 1/2 obscured by clothing and blood ... hair looks like his but it's hardly possible to be 100% sure it's him.

One son was killed but the "heir apparent" is still at large and may have headed into the Sahara.
