Scotia on the end of October.

Good morning all and hope you are getting ready for year end? I could not believe that there are xmas trees in the shops but we always have to look forward to something.

Well the holiday feels like a dream, the 60th like a magical blur and now time to take stock and get back to normal which included a trip to the doc.

Big Five

I did come to Africa to see the big 5 and have ended up with the high 5, high blood pressure, high cholesterol. high sugar, high gout levels and high overdraft.

I had to go and see the dietician to show me how to eat and got the feeling when I opened the door she could see I knew how to eat, she was a young looking anorexic lass with lots to tell me about my change in lifestyle and was not that impressed when I took her copies of all my local eating places menus, I was hoping she could just advise the best wines and dishes to eat.

At least I had a bit exercise this weekend as our kids came for a visit including the new addition of a Beagle called Bentley (a nightmare) its like a vacuum cleaner and collector of things (anything's), the first night after a good evening had a shower and was walking to my side of the bed via our brown fluffy rug and you guessed, foot deep in a massive mine dump that went through the gaps in my toes! the second night we are outside under the lapa and she managed to locate a bag of flour, we are going to Joburg next weekend and I have this terrible urge to crap on the kids coffee table and take some cocaine to meet their friends.

Life goes on and before Christmas we have a good race meeting next Sat and looking forward to having a fun day with a few winners? then the kids are taking us to Swazi as a birthday gift the following weekend and must say it was always one of my favourite holiday destination many years ago and looking forward to going back.

As far as the site can only say WOW, I had a feeling after the July we would hit a bit of a lull but not to be with many new members, over 1200 unique visitors per day and on the 25th Oct 1504 and this month we are just short of 3 million hits, so keep these valued contributions coming.

The competitions are also going like a bomb with many generous clan members and our competition sponsors Interbet... Read More

November will be our biggest yet and well done to all the winners, enter for fun to show your skills if you don't need the money

As always plenty highlights, here are a few

Sheer Courage fiasco continues.

Pocket Power book, get your copy.

Melbourne Cup, who will win?.

I have a runner this week at Greyville and hoping for a good show from Kings Style on Tuesday at a big price.

However on the subject of good horses the Charity race day should be a cracker with a good competitive fields, have taken a bet on PJ for the Summer Cup a few weeks back and thanks again to Sportingbet for all the early betting on the races.

Plenty Cups to give away these days, Melbourne Cup, Breeders Cup, Summer Cup, Currie Cup (well done the Lions)

Can Americain go back to back?

Melbourne Cup: Set the alarms early Tuesday morning and watch Americain at 4/1 follow up on last years race against a weak field, I did take a bit 14/1.

Breeders Cup meeting: would like to thank Barry Irwin for his post and all the best to him and his team for the weekend, the Friday night could see the best bet in the in the form of Secret Circle in the Juvenile Sprint.

The big night has Uncle Mo topping the boards at 4/1 with So You Think 6/1 for the Classic and I am sure we would like to see Goldikova back in the winners box at 22/10 in the BC Mile and Sea Moon can make amends at 4/1 in the BC Turf

We will have all the latest and build ups to the Summer Cup from our local experts not forgetting the jockey challenge.

Just to touch on Camelot, looks special 6/1 for the 2000gns and 33/10 for the Investec Derby could be worth a strike.

Black Caviar, Frankel can racing get any better.

Plus don't forget the jumps "why" I hear many say, Kempton Park on boxing day might not see Kauto Star now 20/1 in a position to bring the house down but can Long Run get beat at 12/10 by either Master Minded 9/1 (why not) or Captain Chris 9/1.

So the bottom line is many good meeting to look forward to and get yourself racing where ever you stay on the planet

Good punting and may your God be with you.

Mav I did head for the Kruger about 35 years ago and stopped at a place Hazyview? We had a great party and met new friends the next day was a public holiday and bottle stores were shut but we were told you could buy in the park so we drove in filled up and drove out and I did buy a video on "interesting animals" which I am sure is still in plastic in the garage. Lol
I have never been back but have been to many small places over the years and seen plenty game including the leopard but find it rather boring.
I did try hunting once but the elephant moved it's head at the last minute and I shot a peacock by mistake and never tried that again was told it was bad luck and probably not to great for the peacock either.

LOL Dave..... people think I am strange when I tell them that Kruger Park is over rated... and game farms rather dull. I am glad to hear there is someone else who feels the same....
