He was gelded before I got him from Alistair and he is a big strong horse(520kgs) but that does not mean that he needs a hiding like he got to try his hardest. Was very unnecessary and cost us the race. He did not deserve that. I dont condone it at all.

I don't have a problem with agressiveness on a horse. Marcus gets fines all the time for this BUT he brings them home. With this goes tactics and skill and our Anton has all of this and more.

Have you ever seen a jockey blame a trainer for not having his horse tuned up for the day (
). Mike Azzie is one who always blames the jockey. I agree Zechner rode a bad race but maybe coming onto the forum is not the way to go. At least we know he was trying. We all make mistakes. Just look at the regrets we have about some of the bets we place.

Agree harris,i remember some time ago the jocks boycotted james goodman for blaming a jock for a horse losing (they boycotted the tt interviews)

as i've said before - the jock has 60+ seconds on the horse - the trainer has him for the rest of the time - but in this case i agree with the trainer - It is because of this forum that I'm able to agree/disagree with the trainer so i do think that a trainer/jockey/owner/punter etc should feel free to have an opinion here especially in this case where the trainer uses his real name

Harris I agree that it should have rather been discussed internally but was in the Sporting Post had Davids letter so it was in the media already. Femz I would have loved to win the race but would still have been very annoyed to see how he was hit to win it when it was not necessary at all. Soodum you seem to think that the horse would not have won anyway if ridden with a bit more patience and less stick? Homer being aggressive and sitting almost side saddle and beating a horse is 2 different things. I have mentioned on this forum and in many conversations at the races and with Jockeys and apprentices that if a horse is not going to accelerate or give his best after 3-5 cracks behind the saddle he is not going to after 15 or so.

Craig im not disagreeing with your views in anyway,im merely pointing out that when goodman was a tellytrack on course presenter and mentioned something to the affect that if another jock was on the horse it would have won,the jocks then refused to be interviewed by goodman cos they felt that he had no right to say that,im bumbling on here ,not sure if i should have posted lol
But i fully agree with you that the horse should not have been butchered and would probably have won if kept running straight

He looked very unlucky to me.
Speaking of "disagreements" between jockeys and trainers, and although not exactly on topic, I'd love to know exactly what transpired with Forest Digger before the last race in PE last Friday.

Soodum you can post anything you want as we entitled to our own views that might be wrong but you can still air them. That is your right. Femz I meant to say in previous post that even if we were ahead at the line we would have lost it in the board room as the Stipes would have lodged an objection. We did not have a chance with a ride like that.

Magic, this has been at the back of my mind and almost forgot about it. I would love to know what happened as well. I hear the horse was fancied on the day.......flying up for 3rd.......perhaps a change of tactics from the trainer made the jock jump off? If there is no reply, then i think we need to open another thread as this is a little bit hidden

Good idea, PeeKay. For what it's worth, the Stipes report says something about Wayne Agrella refusing to ride the horse after an "altercation" with the trainer. What the source of the argument was I have no idea. I see the horse is in the provisional fields for next Monday and now they've got Derryl Daniels to ride him.
