My middle Son is Bi-Polar and reading Charl's writings here, tells me that he is suffering from the same thing.
When my boy takes his Tablets [which have now been changed to an injection once a Month] he is fantastic, the life and soul of the Party and everyone adores his sense of humour etc. but if he misses his tablets, he is so far down that it is almost impossible to get him back to reality.
Thankfully since he changed to the injection he has not had a downer and that has been around 8 Months now, the sad thing is, when I phone him, I can tell within 3 seconds whether or not he has been taking the meds.

So Charl, remember mate, it is ABSOLUTELY necessary to take the pills in an obsessive manner, luckily you know in yourself, that the consequences of missing them can be deadly, I wish you the best of luck and hope that you can keep yourself on an even keel mate, it will be hard, but you are an intelligent man and with Gods help, you will overcome,

I lost my younger brother to organ faliure due to bi-polar disorder(years of hell) - you are the kind of person that will only wake up when misfortune strikes you and i hope for your sake you never have to go through what I and many others have had to -

Been down this road a time or two with friends.

Ultimately, your survival is up to you.

In the final analysis, you really cannot count on anybody else to save you.

Try to simplify your life and rid yourself of temptations that will complicate your thinking process.

Keep a chart on meds and get in the habit of ticking off each date so you don't forget.

And always keep a tablet or two in your wallet or coin pocket.
