FASTNET ROCK
Bay 2001 16.1½ hh
Danehill – Piccadilly Circus
Distances won over: 1000 to 1200m.The best young stallion in Australasia.
Champion 3-y-o colt and Champion Sprinter in Australia 2004/05.The sire of 8 individual Gr.1 winners from his first three crops:

His dam won a mile. The Fastnet Rock's that have raced in SA to date have been best over a mile imo.

This horse was cruising at one point during his race last time.I backed what turned out to be the winner so I was watching particularly closely. For me the winner stayed on well and this horse emptied out close to home.

I'm not saying he won't win the race on saturday(although I'll let you guys rush into 6/10 about horses in hcps),but imo his long term future may be over a mile.

Imo this horse has been blown totally out of proportion anyway. You'd swear it was Politician re-incarnated or something. He's won 1 race against absolute crap, and got beaten off an 80 rating last time.He may be a really nice horse, but there are so many more that are much better than him.

jap...its the feel that both marcus and delpech both allude to as a top individual...thats all...and they have sat on decent horses this term ...to make us take heed of its ability...

Jap jackson first two runs were a 5th and a win, not saying this is another jackson but he is heading for the top, right now he has a better record than jackson at same stages of their career!

Secondly fastnets rock prodginy have been running in derby to oaks in australasia this season, the best 3yo filly by fastnetrock won the colts guineas few weeks ago!

@muhti do you still think my statment of this horse being bred in the purple is unjustified after australian pundits are calling fastnetrock their current supersire

BC,

'the best 3yo filly by fastnetrock won the colts guineas few weeks ago!'

...and what distance do you think that would have been over?

I'm not saying Fastnetrock cannot produce a horse that stays. In fact his win % with horses that do stay 2000+ is very high.I'm saying that the majority of his progeny are not stayers, and imo Main Dane would prefer a mile as opposed to going further.Just like everything else in racing it is just my opinion.Time will no doubt tell, and Main Dane may be a nice horses, but again imo he is not going to be a top horse.
