Does Model Man fit that category.
Did he not win the Garden Province over 1600.
Just asking?

3 wont run already and Dance with devil, Bravura and Northern Emperor don't look like winners at the moment so now down to 9 plus any newbies. Pierre Jordaan the most proven if well.

I no for sure Model Man never won the July or win the Garden Province cos the Garden Province is a race restricted to fillies and mares.

Every July and Met winner will be very good, including over a mile ...........but horses won the Met that won no further than a mile on any other track. An example was Wolf Power ,who they never even bothered to enter into the July.
(Horse Chestnut was unbeaten over a mile but could hardly be called a specialist "miler")

I was told by a very old shrewd trainer "milers win Met's"

To win the july a horse must be able to win at turfontein over 1600-1800m or clairwood 1800m or greyville 1900m or at kenilworth over at least 2000m otherwise you have no chance....check the stats....

The July is a mind Fcuk for me . What i should do this year is forget about all these run up races , every time something wins it shortens , then the hype starts and then come the big day i end up giving chances to the lot of them including horses i would not normally go for .

The only antepost bet i will have is Silver Flyer . He has a nice rating which will help when he meets the top rated 3yo's. He has huge scope i reckon and i keep coming back to that dingaans win where he won so easily , he won so well, that Glen hatt could not pull him up at the finish . He was like, "come on Glenny lets go again" .

Mdk might just have an ace up his sleeve . I just hope he bounces back to himself cause his run on saturday was really shitty !
