If inside info was the answer to making money then all(or most) trainers would have big bank accounts and not struggling as many are. Sometimes inside info can cloud good form studying. I went out the pa in the race being discussed. I had Sky M and Imperial J.There are always going to be form turn arounds. I dont think the Lunn's expected it and am pretty sure before the race they would have said it would not happen.

Craig, that is my point entirely...........I only want to know the well being of a horse..........the comparisons I like to do myself.
I don't think the race I refer to was a sinister situation ,just a varied level of fitness one, over the period between runs.(It would suggest Bull Ring needed his come back run very badly)
Horses will never,by their nature,be completely consistent ,but the regulations should create a consistent "human" approach.
The public's perception of racing is key to its "rebirth" ..........I believe we could convert many poker players to the game if we can convey a clean image!

RF I agree with yy and Pirates in that the public should be given as much info as possible and that is one of the reasons I post here. You cannot force all trainers to post here but for racing if you thought your horse had any chance of not running to his true potential that info should be made available to the public. It will only be a small fraction of the time as most trainers will scratch if they not entirely happy.

and there's the million dollar question - provide a clean and reputable product - who is to provide this? The Jockey Club is not enforcing it and has never been the one (even as far back as 1973) to take the stand to ensure that across the board of industry participants that a sustainable product fit for mass engagement is made available. The clubs in those days each in turn passed the buck. The TBA has only ever been to look after the sales activities and the current big gun Phumelela's is only willing to limit their business offering to betting, with a lame duck RA waddling around the pond, no-one really knows what their input is. Any suggestions as to where the buck should stop - who is accountable?

Spot on Don.I think it would be to look for a success story and emulate that. That post about how Japanese racing identified the same need and got it right. That should be a good start to model our regulation on.
