Co-mingling confusion
12 years 11 months ago
In Oz the tote guarantees 4% min return IE $1.04 so horses like Black Caviar always pays $1.04 a win and $1.04 a place...so if we are betting into that pool why do we not benefit from this arrangement, and where does the 4% of the place pool go???
Give everything but up!

The rules of co mingling are that dividends and rules apply to the host nation. It means that when we Aussies bet on your races we cop the big gouge from your tote.
If an Aussie tote declares a $1.04 dividend on an Australian race that you can bet into, dont you get the 1.04.
If an Aussie tote declares a $1.04 dividend on an Australian race that you can bet into, dont you get the 1.04.

A dividend here is rounded down by our bandits ,so even if the dividend here was GENUINLY 1.04,Saftote would steal the 04 !!!!!!
(or 1.09) for that matter)..................how do you think we get so many R1.00 places?
I believe that Saftote should have to declare all these amounts which must add up to many millions, and certainly not retain them........................they belong to punters and should boost other pools in some way.

Punters that bet the place are being totally gouged by the rounding down, much more than win bets where the dividends are higher. Why anyone would bet on the place tote is madness. At least with bookies you get a fixed price the place and wont get money stolen from you.

To build on Rob - our Tote always rounds down ie it never rounds to the nearest 10c nor does it round up. So the 25% take-out is actually 25% plus a little more.

You will find that the place tote will run as high as 380%. We have a 14.5% deduction and the place tote occasionally runs up to 350%.

It is my estimate that the Australian component of the comingled pools is about 15%. The comingled pools wont be of much use to you until they can get somewhere like Singapore to bet into them every day.
