oh oh let me be the hero a will take penalty #5 ()

It just seems to get worse Hibs. All the diving and theatricals is now legal cheating.
And penalty shoot-outs becoming the order of the day, Carling Cup, Champions League Final and now Euro Semi-final.

Madness it is so important to get your first penalty especially when you are going second as your 5th penalty taker might not always take a penalty.

Surely with a shoot out playing a large part in the knock out phase the teams would have spent hours discussing who are going to take kick in what order and where they think the opposition keeper will, similarly from a keeper's view point. To have a penalty taker told to go back when focused a few meters away from the spot is also crazy. Portugal captain and management what were you thinking? :S

Agreed Shrek,the guy who missed the clinching penalty had already been given the vote of no confidence...and then lived up to it!..............................crazy.

Prior to the shoot out you must nominate the order in which the players will be taking the kick. The Portuguese defender obviously mis counted and thats why Nani came up and told him to go back for if he had indeed taken the kick then the match would have been award to the Spainish without another kick taken.

Yip, Nani was in at number 3, Bruno Alves was number 4 and Ronaldo last to take...:S

blame management.ronaldo had to take 1st penalty and then pressure would hv been on spanish,who imo are very poor in this tourny,but credit to spanish for making final.go u mighty germans to win cup.

problem was you have to nominate your penalty-takers before the toss,unfortunately portugal lost the toss and went 2nd which ended badly for them. England put their best 2 penalty-takers up front,like Spain did bit it did not work out for a poor England team like it did for Spain.I cannot believe how many defenders are taking penalties while strikers stand and watch.
