I had forgotten what a nightmare it is to deal with them...........they introduced a new "Special move" arrangement. In theory you make an appointment and they shut you down where you were and give you a new connection on the day you move.
Today they cancelled my ADSL a week early and I have been trying to fix it all day.
Suffice to say I had to call 14 times and spoke to 23 people, none of which had the same story!
Without a doubt the most irritating thing in the world is that pre-recorded slow drawl which I listened to.on and off,for probably 90 mins today and everybody who transfers you to "the right dept"gets you back to GO (without collecting200)and you start again RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING with the drawl again...........its like wiping your bum with a Hula-Hoop.
I have been promised that normal service will resume t'morrow.................but I happen to know that my number has already passed to someone else.
I face10 days of hell..........if I'm lucky............thank god for emergency 3G but very slow by comparison!

I am moving to Vox, have Bad experiences with HELKOM, APPARENTLY VOX ADSL DO NOT DIP AS HELKOM'S DOES, Telokm's adsl at some times are so low I can not connect.
Vox is launching a new service on 1August that is is called Yahclick it is the first and only affordable Satellite Coms in SA.
voxsat.ipcoweb.com/homepage
I am in the process to register as a re seller.
YahClick Broadband Satellite internet
YahClick is a cutting-edge satellite broadband internet service enabling faster, reliable and affordable broadband to urban and remote areas. YahClick is made available in South Africa through a partnership between Vox Telecom and Yahsat, which uses proven technology to offer Ka-band satellite services. This technology maximises spectral efficiency through frequency re-use. While this sounds rather technical, it means that YahClick can provide high power, concentrated beams targeted over specific areas with high market potential.
YahClick ability
The ability to re-use frequencies in different locations enables greater efficiency in the use of the frequency spectrum, a scarce and finite natural resource. The stronger satellite signals require smaller dish sizes for YhaClick and ultimately bring down costs to subscribers. Vox Telecom is the South African service provider of YahClick and will be offering a variety of YahClick service plans and value added products.
YahClick bundle hardware and software services to offer tailor-made packages for specific markets and user segments in South Africa.

the only way i ever cam right was asking for my problem to be "escalated" - still took over 3 months to sort out and getting the area manager on site(he reconnected my phone in 30 mins) -

I gave up on trying to get ADSL after I moved to Durban North from Glenwood.
It was the last straw when they told me that they did not have sufficient ports in my area and would consider upgrading in the next financial year.

I use my ISP (afrihost) to look after my telkom line - pay them the same as I would have telkom - any problem is sorted in a jiffy
