First post on ABC but a long time lurker.

Just wondering who of you are playing in the World Poker Tour in October?

If so, what event, have you played live casino poker before and have you played live tournaments before?

I played in WSOP in the beginning of the year in the $350 + $30 tournament. Cant remember the dollar amount, but it was R2800.

It was my first taste of poker in a casino and my first live tournament ever. Came 36th place and 34th downward got paid with 34th being $500 I think and the top prize was about $125k.

Felt sick at being so close to the money, but was an awesome experience.

Quite happy with the way I played and being so near the bubble I still have that feeling that I can do it. Therefore WPT here I come!

Your speaking of the main event. That does not include a rebuy. It's a $3.3k plus 300.

In any case I'm playing Event #1 which is not as heavy on the pocket at $500 + 50

James I'm very far from an expert but I would gladly help you out.

Where do you stay and how much would you be willing to play for?

I ask because I can tell you where a tournament near you is and I can tell you what costs you can expect.

With learning the rules etc I suggest many of the freely available poker manuals that are online. They will usually contain a list of the poker hand rankings as well.

I do strongly suggest that you find a group of friends and play home games first before entering a cash tourney so that you are accustomed to the rules and have an idea of how to play.

For those interested we play home games varying between R20 and R100 buy in nearly every week.

If you are in the Pretoria region that is.

More about socializing and drinking than playing for cash :D

Hi Jagielka, the $500 + 50 is it a freeze out tournament or are there rebuys and add ons?
