Muzi's Rides:

CAPELLO RAPEDO - Will improve over today's trip and is a must include
DREAM RUSH - Reportedly working well but first run on the surface
NAUTICA - Has what appears to be the only danger (African Gladiator) well held at the weights his best ride.
PHI - 8yo first run on the surface
COMEDY CARAVAN
- Scratched
ZULU KING
- Holding form well and will go close
SURGING SECRET
- Big weight again but back against fillies
STARFIRE
- Back over 1000m and a very big runner

Must be mad but not normally too much chat on Kimberely days so to help things along... fully prepared for all to be unplaced and have nine eggs at the ready... if the bus doesn't show though or there's a little water about I won't be amused!! ;)

R1 Grey Thunder must have a chance based on his form against some of the other contenders and is drawn in pole, but it is worth noting that the 1 box does not have the best record over 1200 at Flamingo. Sher Dil often tires late so its unlikely the widest draw of all will be in his favour. Born To Buck may improve with the useful appie AA up from the 2 box but does have something to find on the run behind Kingofmountain (over 1000). Which leads me to my final choice of Saraceno. Not a good draw but if confirming the improved run behind KofM then that could be good enough. As a small idiot bet, I might nibble at Muhtarac if the price drifts in the hope he improves on his first run and starts on terms. He has quite a bit to find but he may have needed that run after a 10 week rest, has a better draw and interestingly gets the inform Gunter W up with Hennie G riding for the Shams. Brown is on Sher D. Chancing... Saraceno x Muhtarac x Born To Buck

R2 think this will be a Sham race, if Pay Master takes to the sand then I think he must have a big chance, if not then imo it is hard not to side with Captain Jinks... Gunter up, decent draw and seemingly has many of these held when running on behind Tamarack over 1200. The Great Caruso has only finished once in the top 3 in 9 distance attempts and better place value for me is Chippy's mount, Glorious Leader who comes back in distance and has placed 2/4 at the distance and 6/12 on course. Well drawn but trainer form a major concern. Another e/w possibility is Laconic who, though soundly beaten last two starts, has placed 3/4 on course and is drawn much better than previously on the course. Going with... Captain Jinks x Pay Master x Laconic

R3 Although much improved last time, I can't see why Golden Breeze should be so short in the market, his previous course efforts, including one at the distance, were very poor and he's not for me. Sakkie Sakkie looks the better option, decent recent form, stable in form and a not terrible draw but with only 5 top 3 places in 13 distance efforts, again not for me at the prices. One that might be worth an e/w nibble is Success. Though 2nd run after a long rest, that run may have brought him on and he is better drawn this time over a distance he seems to prefer. Previously always poorly drawn at Kimb he is still 3/5 for top 3 finishes on the course, including a silver at c and d. My final selection though is Vestalia. Imo better value based on his Vaal sand form, where he finished 2.5 lengths ahead of Sakkie (3kgs better off) over this distance behind Hard To Resist. Vestalia has the better draw this time. Some of his recent form admittedly looks very poor but there have been a few bad draws and runs over longer distances. Dream Rush makes his sand debut and, with Muzi returning, could be a spanner in the works. Final selections... Vestalia x Sakkie Sakkie x Success

R4 Not as easy as it may seem at first with a few seemingly inconsistent types who, if they decide to perform, could take the spoils. African Gladiator won very convincingly last time out but seems held by Nautica on their run behind PowerOTF in Jan. A repeat of ToBe's Jet's run behind Campo could be good enough but 4 silvers from 11 course runs doesn't convince me. Gun Powder if returning to his best would have a semi-idiots chance and Karlo and Paris Sympathy could also win. Without great conviction, I ended up with... Nautica x African Gladiator x ToBe's Jet

R5 Eden Rose is too short for me for a first time sand effort. Reed Dance I might have nibbled at if, again, the price was much better, third time after a lengthy rest and over a possibly more suitable distance. Lady Tamara has been consistent and is much better drawn than in her last run, seems sure to be thereabouts. Ice Kitten might need the run but has a win and a silver in 3 c and d efforts and should not be discounted but not the best draw. My vote goes to Little Swan, two good efforts on the course and though upped in class may still be good enough to win this. Won well last time and this will be 3rd run after a rest. Selection... Little Swan x Lady Tamara x Ice Kitten

R6 These races are usually consistent, so not much more to say. For me, over this distance, it will be a straight trifecta... Jack Dan x Eye Of The World x Claverhouse

R7 When deciding that a horse who has finished in the first two in her last 9 runs won't be in the first three, you know you are dealing with a fairly open race! Pisces Star could well win but at the weights I'm going against her today. King's Glory could be in the mix but after a 20 week break may well need the run. Zulu King may edge out Pisces Star and is definitely in with a shout. At the weights though I prefer Captain de Lago to both but think he in turn may get pipped by Airani, 3rd run after the rest, better drawn and 1kg better off with C de L for a 0.5 length beating. Airani x Captain De Lago x Zulu King

R8 Another very open race with some consistent performers. Fayette must have a good chance, she has drawn badly but has performed well from poor draws previously. Atlantic Beach is tempting but I think she prefers an extra 200, Tobe's Lass was only beaten 0.5 lengths by Kate's Emblem over c and d and both must also have good chances. Flying Cloud, with a big weight turnaround with Tobe's Lass and Tenacious Tess, third run after a rest and another dropping back in distance, both can't be discounted. Surging Secret should never be overlooked but may just find the big weight too much over this distance. Not really a viable betting race for me but final choice was... Fayette x Tenacious Tess x Kate's Emblem

R9 Despite the big increase in weight, I'll stick with Starfire at this distance. Dance With Ryan is a consistent performer who, third run after a rest, may well prove more competitive than in his last two outings. Wind At Your Back has a fair chance at the weights but not sure 1000 is his best distance. Swing Away comes back to Kimberley where he has 3 seconds from three runs but a concern is only one win at 18 distance attempts. Selection... Starfire x Swing Away x Dance With Ryan

Be(s)t of luck to all (tu)
