for those who are keen to follow Kranji today:
Kranji Aw 5 April
Race 1
Not an easy race to start with. My Sacrifice (4) appreciated dropping back to Class 5 company with a solid third over 1000m last time out. The extra 200m here will suit and a forward showing can be expected. Rio Fortune (5) is another not long back to Class 5 grade and ran a sound race last time while Frenchman (1) did a good job to get the money last time out and can be expected to make a bold bid here. Storm Arc (7) has been racing in good form of late and a repeat of his latest win will see him go close here.
Race 2
A tricky race with nine of the 12 acceptors set to have their first starts. Rappor (1) did a good job to win the first of the two-year-old races for the year and followed it up with a good second in a recent barrier trial. Expect him to go close. Infermo (6), Silver Dollar (7) and Sing A Song (
are all first starters that have won barrier trials and must be respected, but a watch on the betting will prove the best guide.
Race 3
Lightly-raced Cobrador (3) gets his chance to break through. Two starts for two second placings suggest he has plenty of ability. Vintage Rose (5) has performed solidly at both her runs and the rise to 1400m here will be ideal while Sweet Beauty (6) also ran on soundly last time and is expected to run a forward race. Bargain Bid (
hasn’t been too far away at his past couple of outings and the extra ground here should be to his advantage.
Race 4
Trainer Cliff Brown looks to have two good hopes here. Sand Lane (1) did a solid job on debut and with the race experience under the belt and Joao Moreira taking the ride he should go close. Stablemate Smart Samurai (5) has had the two career starts and has shown pace on each occasion. Coming back to the 1000m will suit while Just Good (7) has performed solidly in his four starts to date and won’t be far away at the finish. Naruto (4) made a stack of ground before spelling at his only start and fresh up here demands attention.
Race 5
Not the easiest of races. April’s Knight (1) is going to find this class a bit easier. Two runs back was sound before being beaten easily second-up last time. Trainer and jockey are both in form and after the claim he doesn’t look too badly off. Alvito (7) will be giving them a huge start but getting back on the turf here will assist while Knight’s Paradise (5) sticks on OK in this class and must be respected. Yam Cha (3) is racing in good form of late and won’t be too far away at the business end.
Race 6
Looks a tricky race. Dreamcatcher (7) is racing in great heart this campaign and should again make his presence felt. Took a smart one to beat him last time and with the weight drop and the engagement of Joao Moreira he should go close. Pacino (6) found the class a shade strong last time and back to this company should make a bold bid while stablemates Solitaire (3) and Black Rain (5) both have claims despite Solitaire possibly now wanting further and Black Rain performing better on the turf.
Race 7
A good race with a number of hopes. Martincho Cat (7) has been a revelation since being restricted to sprint races and will be hard to beat despite his outside draw here. He has a nice weight drop and will be strong to the line. El Milagro (5) is coming off a break. He has loads of ability when right and his fresh form is solid while Emerald Hill (2) did a good job after racing on the speed last time but is a bit of an unknown quantity at his first try on turf. Foxtrot Hotel (10) will appreciate the weight drop here and on his day does have a stack of ability.
Race 8
Not a race to be getting too carried away with. Caution (1) has two placings to his credit from his last two outings and can be expected to give this a shake. Rockety Cat (4) is still a maiden but the signs were there last time a win is near while Rollthedice (12) will appreciate the slight step up in distance here and has Joao Moreira on board. Super Velox (6) is back in distance this time around but is sure to be hitting the line strongly.
Race 9
Getting back to the turf and stepping up in distance should be ideal for Shuttle Man (6). He returned with a fair effort on the Polytrack last time and with the claim for A’Isisuhairi (Harry) Kasim he doesn’t look too badly off. Fiesty Leo (
resumed with a good performance over 1200m a fortnight ago and will appreciate the rise in distance while Totality (4) is coming off a freshen up but is a galloper with plenty of ability and won’t be far away. Matterhorn (5) has had two runs back after a break and back to this trip is expected to run well.
