Scotia on the Oaks and Derby
12 years 3 weeks ago
Hi all, do you still remember me?
It's not through choice just not enough hours in the day and my feet hurt!
Still long hours at the pub, plus we have had plenty parties and I have to consider wearing hard shoes soon before frost bite kicks in.
This weekend is the Oaks on the Friday and its an open affair with Secret Gesture and Moth topping the boards at around 3/1ish, I notice that we have a filly Snow Queen in the race and I remember a horse Snow Knight winning the derby at big odds after the Nijinsky, Mill Reef eras, so might be worth a fun punt?
The derby looks a bit easier with Dawn Approach hard to beat at evens, I did post on the site on October the 14th 2012 in regards to Dawn Approach "it's a cracker and is 5/2 for the 2000 gns and 5/1 for the Derby" would have been worth a 20/1 double with a same horse deduction. The Dash is always worth a watch if not a punt and at 10/1 the field maybe Long Awaited is worth an ew.
If you don't like the Derby fav and think it might have a problem with the distance maybe you can consider Libertarian ew at 16/1
As far as Royal "Shea Shea " Ascot from the 18th to 22nd of June our friend Phil Georgiou from Lets go Travel sent us a few packages for the Clan, and the trip is not cheap and should be linked to a Shea Shea double to cover the costs.
The Royal meeting starts with the King Stand Stakes and Shea Shea is around 3/1.
Queen Anne could see Animal Kingdom 3/1
St James Palace 5/2 Toronado
On day 2 Prince of Wales could see the rather disappointing ( although would love to be the owner) Camelot. In addition the Royal Hunt Cup.
The 20th is Gold Cup day, where have all the great stayers gone ? Rite of Passage is 7/1 fav.
21st is the Coronation Cup
22nd could again see Shea Shea reappear in the Golden Jubilee which would possibly give MDK the chance of being knighted?
can it get MDK a knighthood ?
As far as the Arc in October Orfevre and Dawn Approach top the boards at 7/1
On the home front we also have some great racing building up to a rather open looking July including all the ante post drama, all well documented on the site
bubble wrap for the Snaith contenders
As normal we have some hot and interesting topics on the site, we are over 6 million hits again and glad to welcome a couple of new sponsors Marshall's and Betflash.
Bobs recovery remains our top priority.
Charity Turf Challenge .
July log.
Racing Awards.
As much as I would have loved to be at Ascot the current exchange rate is a killer and more to the point Mrs S has chosen Thailand to celebrate her " big" birthday, I will be on an Island with no reception trying to find out what happened to Shea Shea when swimming in the Sea Sea.
All is not lost as we have our Durban July trip to look forward to and the normal first class Gold Circle hospitality on the big day.
On a lighter note! I am considering taking a few Scottish pounds to exchange for Bart's, hope I have no problem?
McIntyre on Scottish people.
Good punting and may your God be with you

That's true Greg I think it's just because we had a Frankel and BC that it probably did not get the required exposure he deserved, lets see what happens in the Derby?
Then Arc or St Leger ??

Got a great chance I think, did the same bet but put mars in for derby as a back up,got 14/1 on him too so either horse to win will be 175/1

Shea Shea: Targets Ascot double
The star South African speedball claimed the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan on Dubai World Cup night, a victory which elevated him to the forefront of the betting for both races at the Royal meeting in June.
Shea Shea arrived at De Kock's Newmarket satellite yard from Dubai on May 10 and has reportedly adjusted to his new surroundings with consummate ease.
And with the King's Stand and the Diamond Jubilee five days apart, De Kock is happy to go for the double with the gelded son of National Emblem.
He said: "Shea Shea is a happy horse. He has been taking in his new regime very well.
"It isn't easy to adjust to all the changes, but things have gone very well.
"That (King's Stand) is the primary option, but I'm also going to leave him in the Jubilee.
"It's about a week between the races, so, providing he comes back sound from the King's Stand, we may as
well try our luck in the big city and go for both.
"We're here for a good time, not a long time."
Stablemate Soft Falling Rain was on the same Dubai flight to England as Shea Shea.
The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned four-year-old went three races unbeaten at Meydan, with victory in the Godolphin Mile the highlight.
His trainer will resist the temptation to run Soft Falling Rain in the Queen Anne Stakes on June 18, and will instead revert to six furlongs for the Diamond Jubilee.
"Soft Falling Rain is not as mature as Shea Shea so we've had to be a bit more cautious with him," said De Kock.
"We've had to freshen him up a bit since the (Dubai) Carnival as he put his heart and soul into his last race.
"We'll be leaving him in the Jubilee, but he won't be running in that (Queen Anne)."
Kavanagh was last seen finishing fifth in the KrisFlyer International Sprint at Kranji and will join Shea Shea and
Soft Falling Rain at Abington Place in Newmarket this weekend.
The six-year-old gelding will sidestep Royal Ascot in preference to a possible tilt at the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on July 13.
De Kock said: "Kavanagh ran a good race in Singapore but was interfered with on the turn and would have otherwise been in the top three.
"He'll get into Newmarket on Sunday from Singapore, and we'll obviously give that (July Cup) some thought."

IMO, Dawn Approach will not win the Derby as the going will get the better of the horse
