Investec Derby - short report.
12 years 2 weeks ago
Hi all,
Back home after a hectic trip to the UK, taking in the Investec Derby.
What a day! Fantastically organised event. Lots of people, clean facilities etc.
Some observations:
1. Moore on Duke of Firenze was brilliant.
2. The horse that won the second, Thunder Strike, was awesome.
3. Their tote is way worse than ours. No information available on pool sizes, possible payouts etc. on the screens at the course. No doubles available on the tote. Had to walk downstairs to place a double with a bookie, who at first looked at me like I was mad.
4. Their race cards were difficult to read for me. Computaform way better than anything I could find on course or at newsagents.
5. Their whiskey also makes you pished.
I laid out 160 pounds to play a 50% pick 6 and 100% PA. Missed both only in the first leg. End of the day I had 24 PA lines, paid 1100 pounds, damn, and still don't know what the pick 6 pool size was, but it was a 100% carry over. Damn again.
Took some pics with my phone, attached.
Cheers

Hi Flash, I do not have Bernard's ear ... but I am sure they invest where they think they can get their money's worth.
