Gavin Venter Suspended - we want Venter back !!!

I refrained from commenting because we do not know both sides of the story, and still don't, only hearsay.

But did I hear correct on Tellytrack, was not actually listening, but thought I heard a 3 month suspension. Must be serious stuff then.

Does Gavin not post here, why the silence.

Two (2) presenters are sent from Gauteng to PE to tell us what we can ALL see in Computerform, SportingPost, etc. and then there is no money for an increase in salary for those that are good, the mind boggles. Maybe the bucket boys should be hired.

Wasn't it just the other day Gavin was talking crap about the ppl here on ABC??? Whatever the outcome, may it be fair

The point that concerns me is how ,(if FH is right) upsetting the "jockey club" (now known as the "NHA" )leads(before an enquiry) to a suspension from Tellytrack.
Could it be that the NHA is not independant at all,as they would have us believe.
While the gambling board is looking into Saftote activities,it should look into the relationship between operators and regulators.......the conflict of interest is blatant!
The final question is,if,as was reported to parlaiment,the NHA report to nobody,under whose authority do they regulate????

Exactly Bob,and that should be completely taboo ................according to the NHA rules ,the operators are subject to their regulation..........yeah right!!!!!! .........and bite the hand that feeds you?
Needs a complete investigation and overhaul by the authorities.

I found out the following -

1) complaints about Gavin's behaviour were received at Tellytrack, including complaints from NHA.
2) Tellytrack staff have a code of conduct, including a set of procedures etc.
3) Tellytrack are holding an enquiry at their earliest, exactly as per their staff contract requirements. This enquiry will be held on this thursday.
4) As per Tellytrack's code of conduct and procedures, Gavin wont present until enquiry is done.
5) Tellytrac will issue a press statement once procedures are complete.
6) So, its a standard procedure from Tellytrack and not a "spineless" decision etc. In the meantime, it remains sub judicae, until the equiry is concluded.

Gav should just tell them to ram it,Fridays in PE will be poorer without him ...

It is fairly apparent that Gavin is outspoken and probably a bit hotheaded but the one point I would bet on,is that Gavin probably has more experience and a better knowledge of the subject than that of the person/people he was arguing with :S

As I mentioned in my previous post we do not know the FULL particulars but as it is Sub Judica I presume it must be serious.

Just because one knows and might be good at your job does not give you Carte Blanche to do and say as you please. ALL employees are subject to the COS, Rules of Conduct, Standards, Procedures of the EMPLOYERS and if they are not adhered to then surely the Disciplinary process must be followed. Not that this means that the accused is Guilty and this process must also be of a CORRECTIVE nature and not a stick to hit the employee. Of course this depends on the severity of the Charges. I say let the Disciplinary process run its course as long it is fair and consequent.

I just hope it is not because Gavin gives the inside info of a certain stable wrt the condition and/or potetial of their horses or of those Horses that he has ridden in the past. This type of info is very valuable to us PUNTERS as we can then make a more educated guess.

Thanks Louis G for ur post that is the only one with some concrete info. Gavin might be hot headed and sometimes shoot from the hip but for me he at least knows PE racing extremely well and nails his thoughts to the mast. Is the Hearing this Thursday 20 June.

All the best Gavin, hope it works out well for you if you are innocent. Even if you REALLY believe that we Clanners count for nothing in Racing which I do not believe as you are also a Clanner.

Just my opinion on a very Personal matter.

So what happened?.............after being kept in the dark awaiting the facts,the hearing was yesterday apparently.!!!
