I hope not he has failed as SA coach before, I am sure it stems from sending home Watson and the boys from the Indian test series.

They were winless in the CT recently and have looked very poor.. There were probably 2 options, get fired or fall on your own sword, it seems it was the former.

Darren Lehmann has been named as Australia's new coach after Mickey Arthur was sacked.

It was a surprise that Arthur got the job in the first place...

He did very well with Western Australia and the National job was next step.
He actually did quite well with SA but may not be on Graeme Smith's Xmas card list.
By sacking Arthur, Australia have not solved their problems, particularly with Clarke and Watson in the side.

Simple Aussie philosophy. Win. Everyone loves a winner.

Lehman's got a job on his hands. If he changes the captain, then you know he has a mandate with time on his hands. If he tries to manage the current situation, then he too was surprised to get the job. This reminds me of Greg Chappell at India. Everyone thinks he was an idiot to "fire" Sourav Ganguly and the other "old" stars. However, during his interview, he mentioned that this was his strategy and the Board decided that this was the best move for India i.e. get an "outsider" to do a messy job.

IMHO in this instance, Clarke is the problem. The Aussies now getting one of their own to fix the problem.

Totally agree.Like Pietersen with England,he is their best batsman so they are stuck with him.

I'm tired as usual Miickey did nothing wrong with our side ! He was forced out cause he would not kiss Polly and pick who he was told to! Screw the Aussies I feel sorry for Mickey Arthur he was on a hiding to nothing! The bunch of arrogant Aussies that they have playing now are no where near that great side they had in the time of the Waughs the Mcgraths etc so good luck to Darren Lehman those players are not as good as they think, they are . I dontncQre how good you are as a coach or manager if your players don't play for you or they not as good as they think they are then you screwed . Sorry for David Moyes he can't ever succeed he is also on a hiding to nothing. Just my very pure opinion
