I was at LM Bookmakers on Tuesday and over heard the lady talking about getting back over R300,000.00 on Heavy Metal and Lance Michael has horse with Tarry so it was a job to Fark us around.

When there was an uproar regarding the final July field my opinion was that GraemeH should respond. This was eventually done. Should Sean Tarry,in the interests of racing, not also respond asap ?

This CANNOT be correct..no trainer would run a horse on a day it had a "very high" temperature, just won't happen.

Last year Pomodoro returned from his July gallop with blood pouring down leg and trainer and jockey huddled around. I was out the front watching the other gallops and people came to me wide eyed telling me about this. You can confirm with Pirates that Pomodoro had always been my July horse but that incident coupled with his wide draw then put me off him and I didn't tip him even though Tarry had told me the incident was nothing to worry about and was just a superficial injury. This year the rumours started spreading about a breathing issue so I stood at 200m mark for July gallop to try and hear but the voice of the commentator drowned out any chance. I then spoke to the rider aboard at July gallops and to the trainer and then got up in the early hours to go and watch the final workout in which Strydom was making a rare appearance to try the tongue tie. I reported exactly what I was told by trainer. To say I didn't investigate is rubbish and I decided in the end to go with the comments from the horses mouth rather than rumours, although I did emphasise that tongue tie would be worn and made it the headline so people out there could try and make their own conclusions. Sorry.

Furthermore, Van Niekerk himself fancied Pomodoro himself as his best runner on the day and imo it was luck in running that cost Pomodoro the race more than anything else. Go and watch the replay, cleaned up down back straight, bumped coming around the long bend and then squeezed out in straight (and that's not to mention that the first 5 were in single file on the rail.)
