11 years 11 months ago
That 3 days after Joey Ramsden wrote in the Sunday Times ,Gold Circle go and win a Business award, read below...
Joey Ramsden in the Sunday Times
GOLD Circle is being managed like a poorly run golf course, says racehorse trainer Joey Ramsden.
This is a damning indictment of the company that runs the Durban July, which took place on Saturday, and which stands to make a mint from the event.
Mr Ramsden might be the only trainer who this week agreed to go on record with his views but he was not the only one who voiced this opinion. Cronyism, dubious decision-making and a lack of transparency were some of the allegations made.
The biggest frustration the trainers had was the way money was being “frittered away”.
With the volumes of cash the company generates from events like the Durban July, the profits were tiny, said Mr Ramsden.

At the 7th FNB KZN Top Business Awards, held at Southern Sun's Elangeni and Maharani Hotel on Tuesday 9 July, Gold Circle (Pty) Ltd emerged as KZN's leading Company in the category "Recreation, Education and Social Services."
Chairman Robert Mauvis was on hand to receive the presentation and commented that, following on the heels of another fantastic Vodacom Durban July, it was indeed a great honour for Gold Circle to be recognised as the leader in its field in KwaZulu Natal and a major contributor to economic growth in the Province.
"To be recognised amongst such quality companies as Tongaat Hulett, Corobrik, Mr Price and Sun Coast Casino, who all won their respective categories, is a major feather in the cap for Gold Circle and indeed also the sport of horseracing," he added.
The judging criteria included the Company's contribution to the economy of KwaZulu Natal and the principles embodied in the 2009 King Report on Corporate Governance (King III). Factors such as brand and reputation, stakeholder relations and goodwill, environmental sustainability as well as social responsibility and quality of governance are all taken into account.

Congrats in order Here's hoping things go upward now that excess baggage has been dumped.
Time the Joeys and other mountain goats pulled their efforts and energies into increasing betting activities in the Mother City and not waste time and sleep over the Banana boys, once and for all.(td)
