all in all...the rest of the field were all within a few lengths of each other....

seems that de kock is a bit out today, as i expected...

horses from behind are at a disadvantaged....horses running towards the outside down the straight are disadvantaged....he did both....

Lighten up Pirates, it was a joke...

I must admit that Pierre seems to have tapered off quite dramatically towards the back end of the season. Not his best riding at the moment.

Having said that I think having a fresh horse coming into this race would have helped. Running in the July and this race in one month could perhaps be a little much. The best a July horse could finish was 4th?

Lesson learned. For me in future I would look at horses for this race who didn't run in the July.

tommy same happened last year with this race where 2 non july runners fought it out....it comes to soon for them....odd race jackson had the box seat and would have won whatever but the 2nd and 3rd horses make the result bit baffling...one things for sure variety club will be sorely missed as he had jacksons measure
