watching that performance yesterday makes me realise United cannot sell Rooney, sure he wants away but playing Wellbeck in the role behind Van Persie is a no-no. We had better hope RVP does not get injured.

DA... have they actually tried playing Rooney up front with RVP? I have a certain amount of sympathy with Rooney, to me he is a world class striker (how he is only apparently worth half of Suarez's valuation is totally beyond me) but he is no midfielder etc, trying to fit a round ball (weight? lol) into a square hole. Get him upfront and find the best way of getting the two working together. If it really doesn't work then fine, sell him on but if he were to go to Chelsea for example and play upfront I reckon he would be pretty prolific. I think people are underestimating him etc and saying he is not what he was simply (or maybe better put, quite probably) because Fergie messed with his position, not the first player Fergie did it to but it just doesn't suit some players, he is neither a winger or midfielder, he is an out n out front man and that's where we should play him imo.

Yes yes yes

Can not agree with you more.
...and as you say , Wayne is not the only player that Fergie has messed with their positions
